The Clovis Chamber has
successfully bid and won to
host the High Plains Junior
Rodeo finals in Clovis.
The finals will be held July
14-19, 2008, at the Curry
County Fairgrounds.
The Finals have been held
in Clovis since its inception
in 1974 and brings approximately 150 contestants and
their families to Clovis for the
week.
A committee is being
formed to help host the finals.

The Chamber sponsored Clovis
Music Festival is one of two events
that have been nominated for the
‘Most Outstanding Event’ in the
state of New Mexico.
The winner will be announced
on April 17 during the Tourism
Association of New Mexico’s conference in Roswell.
The Chamber feels very honored
to be nominated for this award
which is a reflection of all the hard
work the committee and volunteers
contributes towards the event.
We would like to take this
opportunity to thank everyone that
helps us with the festival and a
special thanks to Southwest Cheese
and Tallgrass Broadcasting, the
Lodgers Tax Board, and all the other
Southwest Cheese sponsors local MS walk
Southwest Cheese is sponsoring a
walk to raise money to help with the
fight to find a cure for multiple
sclerosis.
The walk is on April 26 at Clovis
Community College. Registration
starts at 9 a.m.
We would like to encourage
people to join a team, raise funds and
walk to help people affected by MS.
MS is a chronic, and often
disabling disease that attacks a
person’s nervous system.
The
progress, severity and specific symptoms of the disease cannot be
predicted; symptoms may range
from numbness to paralysis and
blindness.

The first committee meeting is
today at noon at the Chamber and is
open to anyone that is interested in
helping with the festival.
Sponsorship opportunities are
being mailed this week to all Chamber members.
The dates for this year’s festival
are Sept. 4-6, 2008. The lineup
includes The Crickets, Bobby Vee
and the Vees, a Ritchie Valens
tribute show and a Buddy, Roy and
Elvis act.
The festival will also include the
official grand opening of the
Norman and Vi Rock ‘n’ Roll
Museum.

their annual golf tournament this Saturday,
March 29. Registration
ends tomorrow, March
27.
Tee time is 9:00 a.m.
at the Chaparral Country Club. There will be 2
flights of prize money $1,000 first, $500 second
and $250 third (prize
money is based on a
30-team minimum).

The 2008 Leadership
Clovis Class is hosting a
poker tournament as a class
project that will raise money
for local charities.
The tournament will be
held on April 5 at 6:00 p.m. at
the Clovis Civic Center.
Local celebrities are slated
to be dealers. Prizes include a
trip for two to Las Vegas, NV,
and a trip for two to Sandia.
Pre-registration is encouraged as the tickets are selling
fast. Tickets are available at
the Clovis Chamber, 105 E.
Grand Ave. and cost $30.
