Judy’s Ribbon Scarf Gauge – about 8 stitches = 4” using size 11 needle in garter stitch, or 10.5 for lighter weight yarn Yarn – Approx. 120-150 yards (depending on length desired) plus hand-dyed ribbon to match. If using 2 yarns, you need approx 70 yards of Yarn A and 50 yards of Yarn B. You may use various yarns as desired. Stitches used – Cast on (CO), Garter Stitch (knit every row), Bind off (BO) K1f&b (1 stitch increase) – knit into the front loop st, then without removing st from needle, knit into the back loop K1f,b&f (2 stitch increase) – knit into the front loop st, then knit into the back loop, then back into the front loop before removing st from needle. k2tog – knit two stitches together Scarf – Note – if working with 2 yarns, work 18 rows (9 ridges) with Yarn A, join Yarn B and work 4 rows. Continue yarn changes, working 6 rows (3 ridges) with Yarn A and 4 rows (2 ridges) with yarn B. Add hand-dyed ribbon for accent as desired. CO 1 st Row 1 – K1f,b&f – 3 sts Row 2 – and all wrong side rows – knit Row 3 – K1f&b, k1, K1f&b – 5 sts Row 5 – K1f&b, knit to last st, K1f&b – 7 sts Continue in this manner, increasing in first and last sts on RS rows and knitting on the WS rows until scarf is the width you want. Beginning with Yarn B, change yarns as noted above, or follow your own formula if using two different yarns. Knit ribbon in as desired throughout the scarf. Next RS row – K1f&b, knit across row to last two sts, k2tog Next row (WS) – knit Rep last two rows for about 50” or desired length Change to Yarn A Next RS row – k2tog, knit across row to last 2 sts, k2tog Next row (WS) – knit Rep these last 2 rows until 3 sts remain Next RS row – k3tog. Cut yarn, leaving enough to weave in end
