Place: St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 86th & Meridian, Indianapolis, IN, Room N101/102 Speaker Name: Tamara Sandlin, RN, BSN Director of Operations and Process Development Trans-care Ambulance Topic: Ambulance and Wheelchair Transportation in a Changing Healthcare Environment Ms. Sandlin will review the history of Emergency Medical Services and the changing times as EMS providers collaborate with Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) to provide high-quality services to Medicare patients. She will define private and municipal EMS providers and will discuss the differences between EMT, paramedic, and wheelchair driver functions to assist case managers in determining the most appropriate transportation services for their patient’s needs. In addition, Ms. Sandlin will describe payor responsibility based upon medical necessity, pick-up, and destination facility. Tamara Sandlin is a BSN registered nurse of 16 years who specialized in ICU and CCU. During that time, she developed several medical device patents and a passion for business development, vendor management and process improvement. Tamara’s keen interest in the development of ACO’s and other healthcare changes and the changing role of EMS providers led her to Trans-Care Ambulance.
