Powernext SA is an energy exchange based in Paris. Since its creation in 2001,
Powernext has been designing and managing several trading platforms for Energy Spot
and Derivatives markets in Europe as well as other services such as registries for the
energy sector.
Since January 2015, Powernext is part of EEX Group (European Energy Exchange), based
in Leipzig (Germany). Within the EEX Group, Powernext is in charge of the operation and
development the European gas platform PEGAS (France, Germany, Netherlands,
Belgium, United Kingdom and Italy) and is currently the leading gas exchange in
continental Europe. Powernext is also operating the French National Registry for
Electricity Guarantees of Origin as well as other advanced services. Affiliated companies
EPEX Spot and EPD operate European Power Spot and Derivatives markets.
Building upon this strong foundation, we are looking to develop our business in both

Missions
Based in Paris the market surveillance and data analyst will be part of the surveillance
and market data analysis team. The analyst will insure market integrity and surveillance
of the members in compliance with the Exchange and European REMIT regulation. He will
also support Powernext development by providing high value-added statistical analysis of
the European gas market.
The main tasks of the position are
Produce day-to-day and ad hoc analysis of Powernext markets and members
activities;
Perform analysis of the wholesale gas markets in Europe;
Analyze and monitor gas prices fundamentals (infrastructure, storage, weather...);
Create and maintain surveillance and monitoring tools and processes;
Contribute to Know Your Customers (KYC) process;
Prepare and participate to meetings with financial (Autorité des Marchés Financiers)
and energy regulators (Commission de Régulation de l’Energie).
Competences and education:
Interest in markets/exchange industry;
Strong appetite for data crunching/data analysis;
Analytical thinking and problem solving mentality;
Team player, enthusiasm, curiosity, autonomy, thoroughness and integrity;
English is compulsory; working knowledge of French level is needed. German would
be a plus;
Excellent expertise in Excel and VBA
Writing and oral presentation skills;
Master degree level from engineering/business school or University; work experience
can potentially substitute educational credentials;
1-2 years of experience

Experience in energy/commodity trading, compliance, data analysis would be a plus.
Salary
According to profile and experience.
Position based in Paris and available immediately until January 2016 (replacement of
one Powernext employee during a sabbatical period).
