Course Description
This QQI Level 6 programme is designed to enable learners to carry out a range of business and administrative functions in tourism related enterprises and
provide a solid foundation for success in a business career with a special focus on tourism. The course provides a strong grounding in fundamental business
concepts, ideas, practices and methodologies. The Programme will focus on tourist related business opportunities in Iveragh.
Why Tourism with Business? - 1.5million tourists pass through Cahersiveen annually, we are on the Ring of Kerry, Kerry Way, Wild Atlantic Way and the
Dark Sky Reserve. Capitalise on our tourism and business opportunities.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should have Leaving Certificate, LCVP, LCA or a level 4 Certificate. Mature applicants are very welcome.
Access to this programme will be decided by interview.
Work Experience
Work experience forms an integral part of this O’Connell Centre programme. Students participate in quality
placements allowing a valuable opportunity to gain hands on experience in the tourism industry and apply the
skills acquired on the course in a work setting.

achieving a Major Award - Level 6. Students are advised to check with the individual college regarding entry
requirements. Students enrolled on this course will also have Guidance available to them.

Sports, Recreation & Exercise Level 5
Course Duration: One Year
QQI Award Major Level 5
Course Description
This one year full time course will equip students with the knowledge and skills required to work in the sports and leisure industry. Also the points
from this course can be used to gain entry into some third level institutions. Why Sports and Recreation? - step one on a sport and leisure career,
gain a life skill, a valuable gap year opportunity.

Applicants should have Leaving Certificate, LCVP, LCA or a level 4 Certificate. Mature applicants are very welcome.
Access to this programme will be decided by interview. Students registered on this course will be vetted by the
Garda Central Vetting Unit.

placements allowing a valuable opportunity to gain hands on experience in Sport and Recreation industry and
apply the skills acquired on the course in a work setting.

Careers are available in the sport and recreation industry and also in coaching and outdoor adventure centres.
