*Open classes are for fundraising. Contestants will be awarded End of Day awards, but not End of Series awards.*

Plata County 4-H and La Plata County 4-H Horse Council, it’s members, parents, and leaders and any persons connected
with the 4-H Horse Shows & Gymkhanas from any responsibilities for any injury or accident occurring going to the Horse
Shows & Gymkhanas, at the Horse Shows & Gymkhanas, or going home. All contestants will abide by show rules. Any
display of poor horsemanship by contestants may result in forfeiting ribbons and/or awards won.

*RV spaces are available with a reservation at $16.50 per night.
* 4-H Members have free stalls available to them with a $50.00 deposit and a negative coggins test.
* Stock pens are available to non-4-H members for $11.00 per night and a negative coggins test.

Show Rules
Novice Classes – For 4-H beginner riders, young horses enrolled in the Owner/Trainer project, and 4-H members who
have not received a placing above 4th place. This class is designed for beginner 4-H members to be introduced to horse
showing or to introduce their young horses to the show ring. All patterns will be design for beginners and contestants are
allowed to ride 2-handed. Although a contestant that performs well one-handed will be given more consideration.
Contestants that participate in these classes are NOT eligible for the Year End All Round Champion Award, but will be
awarded a Series Award in July. Contestant may crossover and show in their age group on a different horse. Once a
contestant has won a champion award they are not permitted to show in Novice classes the following year.
Cloverbud Classes – 4-H Cloverbud members (5 to 7 years old)
Open Classes – For anyone 19 and over or any youth who is not enrolled 4-H. Open classes are intended to be fun
classes, there will be an End of the Day Award for Open contestants who pay the one time award fee. If there are enough
Open contestants the possibility of a Series Award will be determined.
Pre-Entries – Entries received the Tuesday prior to the show are given a discounted fee. This helps our staff start the
show in a timely manner.
