We’ve Changed Our Name... We Now Carry Fabric!
Don’t you just love the vibrant colors of autumn! With this fall color spectacular, it’s no wonder quilters become so inspired to get their sewing machines
tuned up and ready this time of year. Then the cool, crisp air reminds us that winter is just around the corner…but that means longer sewing days are just ahead.
The holidays are especially inspiring. The colors of Thanksgiving and Christmas
give us a reason to create quilts for family and friends. We hope you enjoy the
inspiration we’ve provided to you in this newsletter.
We’ve had to make some changes in the store to allow room for fabrics. YES,
YOU HEARD IT RIGHT, WE NOW CARRY A LARGE SELECTION OF
FABRICS! Check out the 15% off introductory coupon on fabric for October.
In celebration of these exciting changes, join us for the Grand Reopening of Cote
Brothers now to be called Cote’s Sewing and Fabric Center. Come in and
check out our new look and see for yourself why we have changed our name. We
have some wonderful surprises in store for you during our Grand Reopening on
November 1st, 2nd and 3rd. We will have food and refreshments as well. We
will have some great prize giveaways so don’t miss it. It’s hard to believe that
it’s been 6 years on November 1st that we’ve been at this location in the Auburn
Plaza. Even though we are changing our name, we’re still the same Cote’s that
offers you the best service for home and industrial sewing but now we’re even
better with fabrics. We’re worth the trip!
In this newsletter, we have some great new classes to share with you. The new
fabrics have inspired us all to new levels. Come in and check out the samples that
our in house artists have created. You’ll be seeing some classes on these projects
in this newsletter as well as in future newsletters.
Speaking of classes, have you purchased Bernina Designer Software and want
some ideas for using it? Deb and Natalie want all of you Bernina Embroidery
Software owners to join them in some great classes. You will leave class with
projects made by using your Bernina Software. They will also show you how to
design and make your own project using the Quilter portion of the software. If
you’ve been wondering what you can do with your embroidery software now is
the time to call and sign up for these classes.
Did you know October 6th is World Card Making Day? Join us on Saturday, October 6th from 10:00-3:00 when we will make some crafty cards and
postcards. We’ll be making cards for all seasons but if you want to focus on just
Christmas cards you can do that if you wish. We will show you how to make
greeting cards using fabric and your sewing machine. This Card Making Class
is at no charge to anyone who wants to join us. We just ask that you call or come
in to sign up so we can plan on space etc. You will also need to get a supply list.
This should be a really fun day. Invite a friend to join you and learn this new way
to make greeting cards.
For those of you who have sergers, we will be having a Serger Techniques Class
as well as Natalie’s “Charm”-ing Apron class. Don’t miss the Bento Blocks Quilt
Class with Linda Trembley. Some of you have already seen and raved about her
quilts on display in the store. We’ll also have some great holiday project classes
in store for you as well. You’ll love the Holiday Greeting Cards class I’ve got in
store for you. They’ll mean so much to everyone you send them to. Check out
the rest of our class schedule. I’m sure you’ll love it. The dates and times are
also listed for Bernina and Brother Guide classes. Remember, you receive FREE
UNLIMITED Guide classes when you purchase your machine at Cote’s. If it’s
been a while and you’re feeling a little rusty about some of the features on your
sewing machine, feel free to sign up for the guide classes. You get them free for
as long as you own your machine.
Looking ahead, we will be offering a Block Of The Month Quilt Class. Be

FABRICS HAVE ARRIVED
(AND ARE STILL ARRIVING)!!!!
Some of you may have been in the store lately and noticed that we have been
busily making room for fabrics. Yes, it’s true…they have arrived and there are more
to come! It is our goal to continue providing you with creative inspiration.
We have a wide selection available to tempt your palate. Be sure to come
in and feast your eyes on the vibrant colors and marvelous selection. You’ll love
some novelty prints. There are some festive Christmas fabrics as well as snowand neutrals to add to your stash. We will be showcasing the latest and greatest
from Robert Kaufman, Andover, Northcott, Red Rooster, Island Batik, Benartex
why they will make your quilt project special.
Our own in house artists, Natalie, Mel, Judy, Nita, Faye, Deb, Danielle and
Faye, will be creating quilts to showcase the beauty of each fabric collection.
Be sure to stop in and browse at their creative projects that they will be ready to
teach you. We will be having classes on all of these new quilt projects displayed
at Cote’s.
When you come to visit, check out our wide and ever growing selection of
books, magazines and patterns. They will provide creative (and therapeutic) ideas
for all ages. Speaking of all ages, we also have some great media and fabrics to
excite today’s younger generation as well. It’s fun to see some of their project
ideas. While Ron and I were working at the Windsor Fair, it was very encouraging
to see this new generation of sewers so interested in all of the quilts and sewing
machines we had displayed in our booth. Their no rules, free spirited style is
refreshing and bringing a whole new meaning to sewing.
Stop in and recharge your creativity. We look forward to seeing you soon
and encourage your suggestions. Be sure to stop in and say hello and while you’re
at it bring in your newest projects. We love Show-and- Tell! Remember, the coffee’s always on at Cote’s.

Bernina Unveils My Label 3D Fashion Pattern Software
Bernina of America has introduced a software program to reinvigorate garment sewers by providing an opportunity for each sewer to reflect her own style
and creativity, as well as achieve a great fit, thanks to a first-of-its-kind 3D mannequin that appears on a computer screen and models a garment during
each step of the pattern design process.
With the unique ability to see before you sew, the new My Label 3D Fashion Pattern Software from Bernina, referred to as My Label, creates customized patterns based on a person’s specific body measurements. After entering initial body measurements and customizing fabric and embroidery options,
the 3D mannequin realistically displays how the garment will look before the pattern is finalized and the fabric is cut.
“My Label software gives users the confidence to express individuality and personal style,” said Martin Favre, president of Bernina of America. “And
while patterns created using Bernina My Label Software can be sewn on any brand of sewing machine, we hope to encourage serious garment sewers to
experience Bernina’s cutting-edge technology.”
My Label was unveiled to Bernina Dealers at the annual Bernina University conference this month. Interested consumers can now request a My
Label software demonstration from participating Dealers. The software will available for purchase later in 2007. For a guided tour and more details, visit
http://www.BerninaMyLabel.com/.
My Label users can choose from 20 traditional garment patterns, including pants, skirts, tops and jackets. From there, a sewer has extensive possibilities for customizing each piece with embroidery and decorative stitches, as well as style property changes. Once an outfit is designed, the final step
is printing the pattern on a home printer or sending it to a local copy shop for printing on a plotter. My Label software can store multiple profiles, which
is a useful feature for women who sew for multiple family members or who own a small business.

Windsor Fair 2007
The Windsor Fair is one of the best fairs in the state of Maine and we won a Red Ribbon Second Place for Commercial Vendors Booth. It depicts rural Maine and brings
a lot of people and families together. The fair uses a lot of volunteer help to put everything together and I can assure you it is a lot of work. I take my hat off to them. It
is a very clean fair and very family orientated. Just yesterday I watched the children’s tractor pulls and it was a sight to be seen. There was even about a 10-year-old girl.
These were garden tractors that were all souped up. I was on the phone with the store and all of a sudden one gasses it and took off and you couldn’t hear anything other
than its exhaust, it was deafening. Today there is a pig scramble for kids that I’m hoping to catch a glimpse of.
The draft horses and the pulling events overwhelm me. I watch them every time I get a chance. Today I had the privilege to watch teams of 3 horses; I have never seen
that before. When I was a child and with my family camping on the Wild River in Gilead, New Hampshire, I have fond memories of watching the draft horses work in a real
logging environment. The horses would go to work every morning about 5:00 and trot down the road all by themselves. I have never forgotten this and every time I see a
draft horse it reminds me of it. They are just a beautiful animal to watch and they love to pull.
The midway filled up about 5:30 last evening and it was apparent that a lot
of families came to the fair after their daily work. The kids were having a blast on
the rides and eating cotton candy. If you haven’t taken in a Maine fair lately
you owe it to yourself to go. It will bring back memories of happiness and the
days of old. It is about the cheapest entertainment I can think of today.
Kids get in free and the cost of a whole day is less than a movie.

Why do the “grades”,
i.e. A, B, C, not show up on the
designs until after you purchase the design?
It would be nice to know this information
prior to purchase of design.
Grade A is the best of course. Brother is always grade C
or D. Not many companies’s can create Art files because
they don’t have the rights to the software. All of the
other home software’s cannot convert Art designs either.

the errors is that the light may not stay on all of the time, this is due to low

This may be a great time to schedule a cleaning also. This update is also

We will not be able to do this update while you wait as it may take us up to
3 hours to complete. You must save any designs you have on the machine
