If you are a survivor of sexual violence or know others who have
been impacted by sexual violence, we would like to invite you to

This will be a safe, survivor-centered space for healing and
empowerment.

Scripps Advocates, the Intercollegiate Feminist Center (IFC), Women’s Union,
Pomona Advocates, and Harvey Mudd Advocates would like to invite survivors and
loved ones to participate in the 5C Clothesline Project Shirt-Making Event.
The Clothesline Project began in 1990 as a visual display of shirts to bring
awareness to experiences of sexual violence. These shirts are created either by the
survivor or by a family, friend, and/or loved one. The art display was created with the
purpose of educating others about sexual violence and is also meant to be an
important part of the healing process for survivors of sexual violence. Survivors of all
identities are welcome to be a part of the shirt-making process and the public event. In the original Clothesline Project, a color code was created to give a visual ‘statistic’
of different types of violence women faced.  WHITE for individuals who have died as a result of sexual violence  YELLOW/BEIGE for survivors of dating/ domestic violence  RED/PINK/ORANGE for survivors of rape/ sexual assault  BLUE/GREEN for survivors of incest/child sexual abuse  PURPLE/LAVENDER for survivors attacked because of their sexual
orientation  GRAY for survivors of gang rape  BLACK for survivors of sexual harassment If you are a survivor of sexual violence or know others who have been impacted by
sexual violence, we would like to invite you to create a shirt for yourself or for others
you care about. This will be a safe, survivor-centered space for healing. There will
also be snacks! If you would still like to make a shirt but do not feel comfortable attending the shirtmaking event in the WU, you can contact Scripps Advocates or IFC student reps to
request a shirt to decorate anonymously at home. The shirt-making event will be on March 31st from 6-8 PM in the Women’s Union,
Pomona College. Advocates will be present for on-site support. Shirts in various
colors will be provided. These shirts will later be hung in a public display on Walker
Beach on April 18th. Keep an eye out for more details on this event in the next
couple weeks. Afterwards, these shirts will become property of Scripps Advocates
as an educational tool for future Clothesline Projects within the 5C’s. FMI: Contact Scripps Advocates at [email protected], or Mabelle Bong
at [email protected] for general questions. Contact IFC Student Reps
Hanna Love ([email protected] ) and Angelicca Telles
([email protected]) for shirt requests.
