12 hour rotating shifts

Due to the nature of this assignment, it is imperative that the Shift I/C maintain a high standard of
performance. The incumbent must present a professional image, including dress, deportment, and
remain impartial, firm, but polite in all dealings with employees, client stakeholders and members of
the public. This is a working supervisor position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:

Supervising, leading and scheduling shift members

Ensuring the Shift 2 I/C is fully trained and capable of assuming responsibilities in your
absence

Mentoring and motivating employees on assigned shift

Conducting the Quality Assurance Program including breach avoidance training

Maintaining and ensuring compliance with Site Work Instructions, the Emergency Standard
Operating Procedures, and other related policies

Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of communications which includes all Daily Occurrence
Books (DOB’s) and reports

Conducting investigations and oversight of assigned investigations to Airport Patrol

Resolving all complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner

Keeping the Duty Security Manager, Watch Commander and other stakeholders apprised of
all events / incidents as applicable

Providing post relief when required

Completing timecard and other administrative duties as required

Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications, skills, and attributes:

Five years supervisory experience

Successful completion the Airport Qualification Course (AQC)

Have a Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) Restricted Area Identification Card
(RAIC)

Possess superior knowledge of the security components of the Aeronautics Act and all
related regulations and measures

Be professional and discreet

Superior communication and interpersonal skills

Excellent coaching, negotiating and influencing ability

Ability to multi-task

Good working knowledge of computers

Must have a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s Licence

Ability to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operations Permit (AVOP)

Experience in law enforcement would be considered an asset

effect for a six month period following the completion of the interviews. After interviews have been
conducted candidates will be notified if they meet the requirements to be placed on the six month
eligibility list for future permanent vacancies as a Shift I/C.
