PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A BARGAINING UNIT POSITION Position: Shift Second In Command (2 I/C) Vacancies: One Competition Number: CNS 632-04-15 Location: Halifax Stanfield International Airport (HSIA) Reports to: Shift In Charge (I/C) Responsible for: Supervision of an Airport Patrol and Security Services Shift Working Hours: 12 hour rotating shifts Wage: $19.13 per hour Date Posted: Tuesday, April 14th, 2015 Closing Date: Tuesday, April 28th, 2015 at 1500 hours Due to the nature of this assignment, it is imperative that the Shift 2 I/C maintain a high standard of performance. The incumbent must present a professional image, including dress, deportment, and remain impartial, firm, but polite in all dealings with employees, client stakeholders and members of the public. This is a working supervisor position. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but are not limited to: Assume the Shift I/C’s responsibilities in his/her absence Patrolling the Air Terminal Building and conducting physical security checks Supervising, providing direction and scheduling shift members Coaching, team building and motivating team members Completing pay sheet requirements Assisting in the Quality Assurance Program Administer security post quality control checks to ensure a high standard of primary security line security in maintained Maintaining and ensuring compliance with documents such as Site Work Instructions, Emergency Standard Operating Procedures, etc. Ensuring timely and accurate delivery of communications Providing post relief when required Responding to unattended baggage and suspicious items left unattended Conducting security awareness visits with tenants Completing appropriate reports on all incidents, insecurities, deficiencies or other irregularities noted during patrol Conducting investigations as assigned by the Shift I/C Resolving all complaints in a timely and satisfactory manner Participating in and assessing Code 9 training exercises Identifying and retrieving Foreign Object Debris (FOD)found airside Page 1 of 2 Participating in emergency drills Keeping the Watch Commander (in absence of Shift I/C) and other stakeholders apprised of all events / incidents Qualifications and Skills Requirements: The incumbent must possess the following qualifications, skills, and attributes: Six months experience working at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport as a Commissionaire Previous experience in a leadership role with supervisory responsibilities Successful completion of the Airport Qualification Course (AQC) A current Halifax International Airport Authority (HIAA) Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) Have or be able to obtain and retain a Class D Airside Vehicle Operator Permit Superior knowledge of the security components of the Aeronautics Act, related Regulations and Measures Be professional and discreet Strong coaching, negotiating and interpersonal skills Excellent written and verbal and communication skills Ability to multi-task and handle stressful situations in a fast paced environment Good working knowledge of computers A valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence Current Emergency First Aid qualification Must be physically fit and able to conduct patrols for the duration of a 12 hour shift Experience in law enforcement would be considered an asset Please send an “Internal Application Form” and résumé outlining your skills and experience as they relate to the posting above to: Jylene Ryan, Human Resources Manager [email protected] or via fax (902) 434-0504 PLEASE QUOTE COMPETITION NUMBER: CNS 632-04-15 This competition will be used to generate a confidential eligibility list of candidates that will remain in effect for a six month period following the completion of the interviews.
