SUBJECT:
SOUTH FORT MYERS HIGH SCHOOL NAMES ANTHONY DIXON
NEXT HEAD FOOTBALL COACH
South Fort Myers High School has named Anthony Dixon the next head coach for
the Wolfpack football program.
“I have been offered the Head Football coaching position at South Fort Myers High
School, which I’ve accepted with pride. I want to thank administration for giving me the
opportunity to continue being a part of this great program. I’ve had two of my own kids
who played sports and graduated from South, and my youngest son will be attending
South in the near future. Therefore, South Fort Myers has been my home away from
home for the past ten years. I’ve been fortunate enough to have coached with Grant
Redhead, as we have watched a lot of kids go through this program and who have
grown up to be young men. In order to continue the success of this great program here
at South, the support system has to continue to be as strong as the program itself.
Grant did a great job at building this program and my plan is to keep the success going.
I’m excited for the opportunity to maintain South’s program for our student-athletes,”
Coach Dixon stated.
A search to fill the head coach position was conducted within Lee County. “We didn’t
have to look too far to find a qualified candidate who brings with him an intricate
knowledge of the game and a strong desire to develop student athletes. With Anthony
Dixon at the helm, Wolfpack football will continue its tradition of excellence. Coach
Dixon has a clear vision of taking our team to the next level and a plan for ensuring our
students develop into fine young men, both in the classroom and on the field,” shared
Principal Melissa Layner.
Cameron Yearsley, Athletic Director, echoed Principal Layner’s sentiments. “I’m
happy and extremely excited for Anthony. He brings a tremendous amount of energy,
enthusiasm and knowledge to the position and I look forward to him taking this football
program to the next level. We are excited to have him.”
Coach Dixon has served as the acting head coach during the spring season and looks
to further hone his players’ skills during the fall season.
