SCHOOL DISTRICT OF LEE COUNTY TO HOST ELEMENTARY AND
MIDDLE SCHOOL BOOK BATTLES
Students participated in the Lee County School District’s Elementary Book Battle on May 16, 2014.

WHAT: Lee County Elementary and Middle School Book Battles
WHERE: Board Room, Lee County Public Education Center, 2855 Colonial
Boulevard, Fort Myers
WHEN: Elementary Book Battle – Friday, May 15th, 9:00 a.m.
Middle Book Battle – Friday, May 8th, 9:30 a.m.
WHY: The School District of Lee County is pleased to announce the dates for
the Elementary and Middle School Book Battles. The annual Book Battles
allow teams from participating schools to compete in a game-show like
competition using questions submitted by students and staff based on 15
titles that were nominated for the Sunshine State Young Reader’s Award
by the Florida Association for Media in Education. There is a separate
reading list for Elementary and Middle Schools. This year’s winning titles
were voted on by 26,000 Florida students.
This year’s Elementary Book Battle will feature Lois Thome of WINK TV
as the emcee. The Middle School Book Battle will feature Lisa Spooner
of NBC-2 as emcee. Both Book Battles will be broadcast live on Lee
Schools TV – Comcast channel 23.
