WHO WE ARE
The National Guard Youth Foundation addresses the growing dropout crisis and its impact on our nation’s youth,
economy and national security. We assist adolescents who drop out of school with the opportunity to improve their
life skills, education and employability, creating the next generation of skilled workforce in America. Our efforts are
directed primarily toward developing, supporting and enhancing the National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program.
The Facts:
- In 2013, 9,150 young people got a second chance through ChalleNGe.
- On average, 39% of ChalleNGe graduates continue their education, 47% enter the skilled workforce, and 5%
join the military.
- NGYF awarded nearly half a million dollars last year for tuition assistance to these graduates for college,
trade or vocational school.
There is a need for ChalleNGe in every state, and many of the 35 existing sites desperately need to expand to
meet the growing demand. NGYF wants to ensure that every young person who needs and wants a second
chance can have that opportunity.
