KNITTING LEVEL: Intermediate
TECHNIQUES USED:

Cowls, cowls, cowls! I can’t get enough of them. They make my life
easier and that’s always a good thing. They are often seamless
knitting projects too, which is definitely a great thing!
This one is nice and easy to wear. Knit in the round with pretty lace
panels. Finished top and bottom with rows of neat Garter st. Eyelet
holes along the top to thread the drawstring. Optional pom-poms to
embellish the drawstring ends and add a little whimsy. The
drawstring makes the cowl’s fit adjustable to your daily moods.

KNITTING THE COWL
CO 96 sts. Join in the rnd with a st marker to mark end of each rnd.
Work in Garter st:
Rnd 1 [RS]: Knit.
Rnd 2: Purl.
Rnds 3 through 5: Rep last 2 Rnds once, then rep Rnd 1 once more.
Establish Lace Pattern:
Rnd 6: Work Rnd 1 of Lace around.
Rnd 7: Work Rnd 2 of Lace around.
Rnd 8: Work Rnd 3 of Lace around.

BO all sts in knitting. Cut yarn and fasten off.
FINISHING
Weave in all loose ends. Block cowl to measurements.
With crochet hook, chain 150. Cut yarn and fasten off. Thread drawstring through eyelet
holes at top of Cowl so ties are hanging in front. Make 2 small pom-poms (many tutorials
available online, just search “how to make pom poms”). Finished pom poms shown are
about 2 ½” [6.5 cm] diameter after trimming. Attach pom poms to drawstring ends.
