improving the quality and safety of care for vulnerable children.
This conference will discuss strategies to promote collaboration and

How to transfer theory into practice to
improve service outcomes
How to build organisational capacity
through effective service innovation
Pre Conference Workshop A
Monday, 16th March 2015
9.00am-4.00pm
Post Conference Workshop B
Thursday, 19th March 2015
9.00am-4.00pm
Service providers often struggle to understand the difference between theory
and practice and how to best utilise it in a practical setting. Adult learning
theory highlights the need for supervision to enable workers to translate
theory into practice.
Effective service delivery requires clear objectives, an understanding of the
significant contextual factors and the requisite skills and knowledge. This workshop will explore how to use a reflective practice paradigm in
supervision to increase worker capacity and improve the outcomes for
vulnerable children.
Why attend this workshop?
• Learn about the effectiveness of reflective practice in supervision
• Participate in stimulating conversation about harnessing workers’ potential
• Link theory to practice that increases better outcomes for children
What you will take away by attending
• Further knowledge to enable workforce development and better outcomes
• Additional skills to improve worker capacity
• Increased confidence and understanding of supervision
This workshop will focus on building organisational capacity through
innovation and effective implementation. Why attend this workshop?
• To explore and identify the key features in effective service delivery
• To consider the ways in which the relational and relationships impact on
service design and delivery
• To explore both professional experience and case vignettes
What you will take away by attending
• Increased knowledge and skills in service innovation and design
• An opportunity to explore key issues with other participants
• Identify key messages and objectives relevant to each participant
