2015 Congressional Award Gold Event Schedule Tuesday, June 16, 2015 - Gold Medal Recognition Dinner 2015 Gold Medalists are invited to attend a Recognition Dinner in Washington, DC. Reception and check in will begin at 6:00 PM, the program will begin at 7:00 PM and will last approximately 2 hours. When entering the building, you will need to go through security (metal detector and x-ray machine for belongings). Please allow additional time (note, this is not like airport security and should only add 5-10 minutes of time to entry). All Medalists were provided with one (1) complimentary guest space to join us at the event with Members of Congress, special guests and friends for the event. Additional guest requests were due by May 1 and will be approved via email after May 19, 2015. Honorary Awards 2015 Horizon Award - Ms. America Ferrera, Actress and Philanthropist & Mr. Steve Pemberton, Walgreens The Horizon Award is a special recognition from the Joint Leadership Commission of the Congressional Award Foundation and its Board of Directors. The Horizon Award is presented to individuals from the private sectors who have contributed to expanding opportunities for all Americans through their own personal contributions, and who have set exceptional examples for young people through their successes in life. These recipients have truly forged ahead, establishing noble horizons to which our youth can aspire. 2015 Wallop Howard Leadership Award - Hon. John Dingell, Former Member of Congress The Wallop Howard Leadership Award is presented to individuals who have displayed outstanding commitment to improving the lives of our nation’s young people and providing critical support in the Congressional Award Foundation’s efforts to make the Congressional Award a national opportunity. The Award is presented by the Congressional Award Joint Leadership Commission – comprised of The Speaker and Minority Leader of the House and Majority and Minority Leaders of the Senate. 2015 Inspiration Award - Mrs. Mary Rodgers, Pennsylvania The Inspiration Award is given each year to an outstanding Congressional Award Advisor on behalf of the Joint Leadership of the United States Congress and the Congressional Award Foundation Board of Directors. The Inspiration Award is presented during the annual Gold Medal Recognition Dinner before Medalists, their families and Members of Congress. The leadership and service provided by each Inspiration Awardee through the Congressional Award program has been just that, an inspiration. 2015 Congressional Award Gold Event Schedule Wednesday, June 17, 2015 – Gold Medal Ceremony The Ceremonies will be held in the Caucus Room of the Cannon House Office Building on Capitol Hill (345 CHOB). When entering the building, you will need to go through security (metal detector and x-ray machine for belongings). Please allow additional time (note, this is not like airport security and should only add 10-15 minutes of time to entry). All Medalists were provided with four (4) complimentary guest spaces at the Ceremony. Additional guest requests were due by May 1 and will be approved via email after May 19, 2015. Cannon House Office Building First and Independence Avenues, SE Washington, DC 20515 Metro Accessible: Capitol South Metro Stop (Blue, Orange and Silver Lines) Handicap Entrance: New Jersey Avenue, S.E., south of the terrace at the intersection with Independence Avenue 10:00 AM Ceremony 1 in the Cannon House Office Building Caucus Room States presented include: Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Utah & Washington. 12 NOON Group Pictures (location TBD*) Immediately following the first Ceremony, medalists will be led to group pictures. Medalists from the second Ceremony should arrive at the location by 12 Noon. *The Capitol Complex is currently undergoing renovations and we are working to secure the location for the group pictures. We will provide information about the group pictures via email once confirmed and have directions at the Recognition Dinner on June 16. 2:30 PM Ceremony 2 in the Cannon House Office Building Caucus Room States presented include: Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin & Wyoming. **Medalists should arrive 45 minutes before your ceremony is scheduled to begin** Guests may check in and enter the room 20 minutes before the ceremony is scheduled to begin Wednesday, June 17, 2015 – Nationals Game Each Gold Medalist who confirmed their tickets may attend the evening game on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 to watch the Nats take on the Tampa Bay Rays.
