GAUGE: Gauge is not critical and will vary depending
on yarn used, but here is a guideline:
20 sts & 44 rows to 4 in / 10 cm over garter st
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: after blocking
5 ½ x 60 inches / 14 x 152.5 centimeters
NOTES:
1. The number of stitches varies on each row of Winter
Haven lace pattern. A row by row stitch count is listed
in the written instructions. It is recommended to count at
the end of each row until the pattern becomes intuitive.
2. About yarn overs (yo): Always make sure the yo is
making a new stitch. There are a couple ways to make a
yo before or after a purl stitch. Use your favorite
method, or try these:
yo between an ssk and purl stitch – Make ssk. Bring
the yarn from the back to the front between the 2
needles, then over the top of the RH needle to the back,
then between the two needles to the front again. Purl
next st.
yo between a purl and ssk – Make purl (yarn is in
front). Leaving yarn in front, make ssk. A loop will
automatically be formed over the needle between purl st
and ssk.
