Community Education Online Classes Choose from over 200 classes! Our instructor-facilitated online courses are informative, fun, convenient, and highly interactive. The instructors create warm and supportive communities of learners. All courses run for six weeks with a two-week grace period at the end. Courses are project-oriented and include lessons, quizzes, hands on assignments, discussion areas, supplementary links, and more. You can complete any of these courses entirely from your home or office at any time, day or night. It seeks to improve the quality of life in our school district by identifying community needs and developing relationships between school and community to meet these needs. YOUTH CLASSES Spring Landscape Painting with Mrs. Ryan Supply Fee: $7 Each painting class is designed to use ageappropriate techniques to create keepsake items. Each Class Fee will be $10, payable to Community Education. The additional supply fee, payable to Mrs. Ryan, covers the cost of paints and surfaces. The age range for each class is listed by the class date. All classes will be held Crookston High School Art Room. Minimum enrollment: 2 Maximum: 12 Grades 4-6, March 4 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This class will consist of painting a spring landscape using acrylic paints and specialty brushes. You will learn how to paint trees, foliage, bushes and flowers. Teddy Bear and Pumpkin Supply Fee $10 Painting Fish on Solar Pots Grades 3-6: Oct. 8 - 5:30—8 p.m. Supply Fee: $9 This class will consist of painting a teddy bear and pumpkin on the inside of a terra cotta saucer. Once done we will paint a border on the top of the saucer. Grades 4—6: April 8 from 5:30--8:30 p.m. This class will consist of painting fish, seaweed and starfish on a terra cotta pot using outdoor paint. Snowman on Glass Supply Fee: $12 Childcare Certification Clinic Grades 3-6 : December 10, from 5:30—8 p.m. This class will consist of painting a snowman on an upside down glass. We will also paint snowflakes on the glass and plate with enamel paint. A tea-light is included. Are you between the ages of 11 and 13 and want to be certified as a babysitter? Learn how to care for young children from child care experts, a kindergarten teacher, a nurse, and a firefighter. Linda Morgan and CHS Leo Club members will guide you through this course. Fall and spring sessions are offered. Spring Flowers Supply Fee: $12 Grades 3-6: February 18, from 5:30—8 :30 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This class will consist of painting daisies, rosebuds and ladybugs using enamel paints. You will paint 4 glasses. or Saturday, April 12th, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Washington School Cafeteria Class Fee: $17 includes a book, handouts, and a pizza lunch. Also see Beginning Knitting on page 4 2 Cooking with Caputo HEALTH AND HOBBY Bernie has a passion for cooking and his enthusiasm for making food delicious to the palate and pleasing to the eye can be brought home to your table. Cooking through Community Education Learn to make Homemade Pasta Impress friends and family for the holidays with your own homemade pasta. Class will learn to make a basic pasta noodle to create a variety of Italian dishes. All fees must be paid by that date and the minimum enrollment met in order for the class to be held. Heat up the Winter Blues with Kimchi Gus & Don’s Pie Class Learn to make the healthiest condiment in the world. Spice up your favorite dishes while contributing to a healthier life. Class will make Kimchi and eggrolls. These self taught instructors give attention to detail in the art of making pies. On each night of class, students will participate in making two specialty pies (Gus and Don’s popular secret recipes). Upon registration, you will be provided with a list of supplies to bring. Wine Bottle Wind Chime What do you do with the wine bottles you’ve been saving? Make wind chimes of course! In this class you will learn how to cut bottles and create a stunning wind -chime using mirrors stained glass, beads and various repurposed material. This class is designed for beginners and will incorporate braiding into modern styles. Participation in this class involves one adult to learn how to braid and one model (age 12 and up with at least shoulder length hair who is able to sit for 1-2 hours) to practice braiding on.
