EXAMPLE PROJECT: AUSTIN AVENUE/
CHARLAND AVENUE/POIRIER STREET
The work that is being proposed for Austin Avenue/Laurentian
Crescent project is similar to the work that was done at the Austin
Avenue/Charland Avenue/Poirier Street intersections (2007).
A cul-de-sac was installed on Charland Ave to improve traffic safety and operations.

PROPOSED CHANGES
Laurentian Crescent
fi
fi
After reviewing the traffic patterns and the collision history, the
City is proposing to make the following changes:
fi
1
1»» Close Laurentian Crescent, north of Austin Avenue and build
a cul-de-sac — the pedestrian and cycling access would remain;
4
2»» Eliminate the pedestrian crossing of Austin Avenue on the
west side of Laurentian Crescent to avoid the conflict with
northbound traffic turning left from Laurentian Avenue;
2
3
3»» Realign the pedestrian crosswalk across Austin Avenue on
the east side of Laurentian Crescent so that it is perpendicular
to Austin minimizing the pedestrian crossing distance; and
