COREDANCE COMPETITION NANAIMO 2015 AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS & SPONSORS GENERAL INFORMATION Competition Protocol The backstage entrance will be open 1 hour before the start of each session. This area is for performers and studio representatives ONLY. Friends and family are asked to wait in the lobby before each session. Theatre doors will open approximately a quarter of an hour before the start of each session. ADJUDICATION ONLY: Entries in categories marked with Adjudication will only receive a button award and critique during the following adjudication. They are not eligible for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in their category. Only DANCING AHEAD: Entries marked with Dancing Ahead will not receive an award during the following adjudication. Since they are competing outside and ahead of their scheduled category, they will still be in the running for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place awards and will be awarded once their scheduled category has taken place. DANCED PREVIOUSLY: Entries marked with danced previously are shown as placeholders in their category and signify that they are still competing against others in their category but were scheduled to perform ahead of time due to extreme prior commitments. Any questions or concerns may be addressed to either Geneen, Sonia or the Rules and Regulations table located inside the theatre. A reminder that photography or recording of any kind will not be permitted inside the theatre doors and could result in disqualification of that performer. Please see our Rules & Regulations, posted on our website, for complete information. AWARDS PROCESS & ADJUDICATION Awards - How they work CoreDance is committed to creating an environment in which accomplishments are recognized, while fostering a sense of healthy competition. As part of this commitment, we reward participants through a two-tiered awards system. • Each dance is individually scored and awarded with a bronze, silver, gold or platinum standing based on the score level. • In addition, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd highest-scoring dances in each category are recognized with a medal (solos) or trophy (groups). • We will also be awarding one “Adjudicators Choice” award per session—giving the adjudicators an opportunity to recognize unique talents and performances outside of the marking system. We are proud of all of our dancers, and encourage everyone to let their own, one-of-a-kind light shine on our stage! GALA INFORMATION CoreDance Awards ceremony & gala May 10, 2015 // The Port Theatre – 125 Front St.Nanaimo Awards Ceremony @ 5:00pm Gala Showcase @ 7:00pm The CoreDance Gala is a showcase featuring the competition’s Top 10 soloists and groups, as well as the Triple Threat award winner. CoreDance will post the day’s Top 10 Highest Scored solos and groups in the lobby at the end of each day. These results do not guarantee a spot in the gala, but placing in the Top 10 of a day is an achievement in itself and we want to recognize those who make it! Dances that have qualified for a Top 10 high score position overall will be posted on our Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/coredanceproductions and in the Port Theatre lobby by 2pm on May 10th. Studio reps will be notified via phone call at that time if your dance has made it! The final Top 10 list will be performing in the Gala at 7pm on May 10th and must be present in order to receive their prizes and CoreDance plaque. If an entry is unable to perform, the award will be passed on to the next deserving dance. The Triple Threat award winner will also be notified by 2pm on the day of the gala. This award goes to a soloist who has competed in three or more categories and has the highest combined score. They will perform only their highest scoring routine. Scholarships, prizes and money will be awarded to the deserving young dancers who have been selected by our adjudicators during the Awards Ceremony at 5pm on May 10th. If for some reason you are unable to attend the awards ceremony, make sure you have a friend or family member present to accept any award(s) on your behalf. Gala entry will be $25 ($20 for ages 12 and under). Tickets can be purchased at the Box office or online through our website http://coredance.ca/competitions/gala/ 2015 SPONSORS 2015 AWARDS Sponsors support CoreDance by donations in the form of special bursaries, scholarships, cash or merchandise that will directly benefit deserving dancers who will receive these awards at the CoreDance Awards Gala. 2015 SCHOLARSHIPS 24 seven dance convention Free 24 seven workshop scholarship to be used before June 1, 2016 PLatinum — $250+ gold — $100+ Arbonne Bent Tree Wellness Army of Sass CR DanceXtreme Budget Brake & Muffler – Courtenay Katie Littlejohn – Registered Massage Therapist Culturally Defined Live Love Dance Wear Free course for Army of Sass’ next season in Vancouver.
