CB 6.00 Casein Distemper Casein Distemper can be applied to lining paper and prepared previously emulsion painted surfaces. Unpainted porous surfaces should be primed with a diluted first coat. Any algae or mould must be treated with a fungicide and making good and filling should be carried out with a material appropriate to the substrate. It is recommended that trials are carried out to ensure that the surface is suitable for application. APPLICATION Method Best applied by brush. Cannot be spray applied. Brushes and equipment should be cleaned with warm, soapy water immediately after use. Thinning Thinning should not be necessary on previously painted surfaces. On previously unpainted porous surfaces such as lime plaster it is normal to apply a thinned first coat first diluted with c. 10% clean water. Casein Distemper is temperature sensitive and will thicken in cold conditions. If paint has thickened, it is preferable to stand the can in a bucket of hot water rather than dilute. Only if absolutely necessary dilute by no more than 10% with clean water. Two coats normally recommended. Coverage 10 - 12 m2/litre/coat on smooth surface of average porosity. CB 6.00
