All you need is a library card and POWER Library!
Before your next trip to the mechanic, take an online detour and check out
POWER Library. Repair information and specifications for more than 35,000
vehicles are available for free from the state's POWER Library. All you need to
access the information is your free library card!
The Auto Repair Reference Center (ARRC) has nearly 857,000 drawings and step-by-step photographs, about
99,000 technical services bulletins and recalls, and more than 158,600 wiring diagrams. The information in
the ARRC comes from Nichols Publishing, the former publisher of the Chilton auto repair manuals.
Instructions
The first step in using the ARRC is to choose the year of the vehicle (anything from a 1954 Volkswagen Beetle to a 2014 Mazda6), then work through the make, model and engine specifications. This valuable resource
contains repair information, technical service bulletins, wiring diagrams, maintenance intervals, full specifications, an estimator for labor times and costs, and diagnostic information for most vehicles.
Each screen has several tabs. The Vehicle Search takes you to the initial search screen for the vehicles. The
AutoIQ tab has a short video presentation about the different parts and systems of a vehicle. The topics include
fuel management, heating and air conditioning, and brakes.
The Care & Repair Tips section provides links for information about caring for and repairing your vehicle, as
well as the necessary tools for buying parts and supplies. This section provides information beyond what your
mechanic tells you and can also provide information to help you complete basic maintenance issues yourself.
Finally, the Troubleshooting tab is a great place to start to diagnose problems with your vehicle.
To access AARC, go to the library website at www.grovecitypalibrary.org. Under the “Resources” tab, highlight “Power Library.” If you are accessing Power Library from within the library, select (click) “Power Library Internal Access” and you will directed to the PA Power Library site. If you are accessing Power Library
from outside the library, select (click) “Power Library Remote Access.” You will be directed to a site where
you will need enter the GCCL Power Library code (pl2275) and your five digit GCCL barcode number (do
not use the leading P. If you do not have a five digit number, add leading zeroes (0) to your number. For example if your number is P 12 you would enter pl227500012). Once you are at the PA Power Library site, select (click) “Auto Repair.”

The Grove City Community Library and
Where the Corners Meet quilt guild present:
Commonwealth Speaker Cassandra Gunkel and
“The Underground Railroad in Quilts”
The Underground Railroad, the secret paths traveled by African Americans who escaped slavery in the
South, is well documented by historians. Far more elusive is evidence that slaves used quilts as signals to
guide their way to freedom. This hands-on talk and demonstration engages in the ongoing debate
between historians and the public—did quilts guide escapes? Authentic 19th century quilts and modern
reproductions are used to explore some of the ways in which women may have stitched their politics,
history and mythology into quilt designs. A folklorist who specializes in material culture, Cassandra
Gunkel, has studied African American quilts and textiles to document the lives of women who captured
our histories and stories in their creative work.
