The iconic Wire Lamp Range from the
Birdcage makers of a remote village
in Rajasthan is a testament to the collaboration between the contemporary
designs of Ayush Kasliwal at ANANTAYA
and the traditional artisans’ skill and
adaptability. Using iron wire, the ‘Birdcage’ artisans have created a series of
five large-scale lamp shapes referencing
Mughal architecture in powder coated
black finish that creates beautiful patterns on the walls and ceiling.

Named after ‘Kainoosh’ the stylish Delhi
restaurant for which the lamps were
designed, these lights are, as the name
in Persian suggests, a cocoon of sophistication. Transferring their skills with iron
wire to brass, the Birdcage makers of
Rajasthan continue to develop new alternatives for spreading light. The balmy
rays of glowing gold, emitted through
the lamps handmade in lacquered brass,
create a gentle spectrum of light that
projects a warm Indian welcome.
