While traveling in Europe, VMI founder, Michael Spremulli, was introduced to the Merida line of guitars, which are
popular in Europe and Japan. Spremulli said, “I was impressed by the warm, rich tones and unique artisan feel of the
instrument, as well as unsurpassed attention to detail not available at this price point until now.” He added, “The line
has only been available on a limited basis for about ten years overseas, so we are very proud and excited to be able to

These meticulously crafted instruments were inspired by the over two thousand year old historical Roman village of
Merida in the area of Extremadura in Spain, just north of Andalusia, the birthplace of the guitar. The famous Puente
Romano Bridge was the inspiration of the sound bracings. The guitars feature the TwoWoodtoneBridge, the ultimate
sound connection between the strings and the solid top. Each guitar in each of the four individual lines are constructed
of solid hardwoods. Merida Extrema Guitars feature D’Addario Phosphor Bronze strings and Savarez Nylon Strings,
Graph Tech Tusq XL nut and saddle, Fishman Electronics and Grover Tuners.
