Presents case examples using opportunity analysis to support advocacy. 12:00 – 1:00 Lunch 1:00 – 2:15 Social Cognition & Implicit Bias. Continues exploration of social cognition & implicit bias concepts and tools and introduces priming and debiasing as vehicles for counter-acting implicit bias. 2:15 – 2:30 Break 2:30 – 4:15 Returning to the Four Levels. Reviews legal handles and emerging issues in pursuing racial equity through litigation. 10:45 – 11:00 Break 11:00 – 12:30 Racially Equitable Policy Advocacy. Introduces tools to assess existing and proposed policies and legislation through a race-equity lens. 12:30 – 1:30 Lunch 1:30 – 3:00 Selecting & Developing Issue Campaigns. Introduces suggested criteria to use in selecting racial equity issues to address; also provides opportunity to use strategy development tools for individual team’s racial equity initiatives. 3:00 – 3:15 Break 3:15 – 4:15 Selecting & Developing Issue Campaigns. Equity Teams use “strategic planning” and “Campaign Timeline” worksheets to develop initial plans to move their racial equity initiatives forward. 4:15 – 4:30 Break 4:30 – 5:15 Team Presentations Racial Justice Training Institute – Onsite Day Three Thursday, June 25, 2015 Schedule Session 9:00 – 9:30 Reflections & Evaluation of Day Two; Intro to Day 3 9:30 – 11:45 Introduction to Framing and Strategic Communications. Introduces concepts and tools for crafting effective race-informed messages with time to apply these to prepared case scenarios. Including break 11:45 – 12:00 Break 12:00 – 12:45 Equity Team Meetings. Teams apply framing and communication tools to their proposed racial equity initiatives. 12:45 – 1:45 Lunch 1:45 - 3:15 Building Multi-Racial/Multi-Ethnic Alliance. Examines factors that contribute to building and maintaining diverse alliances. 3:30 –5:15 Power Dynamics in Office/Organization. Considers racial equity issues within the context of participants’ offices or organizations.
