Buffalo Stampede 5K and Kids’ Mile
Run wild on the Nebraska prairie

WHAT: The Crane Trust’s 3rd Annual Buffalo Stampede 5K Trail Run and Kids’ Mile will be held on historic Shoemaker Island—a
beautiful expanse of native Platte River habitat. The Buffalo Stampede 5K (3.1 miles) is open to runners and walkers of all ages and
abilities. The Kids’ Mile is open to children age 12 and under.
Courses will be accurately measured, timed, and run on mowed grassland trails. NO rollerblades, skates, bicycles, skateboards,
baby joggers, dogs, headphones, or unregistered participants are allowed on the trails. At the end of the race, participants and
their families can cool off in the shallow waters of the Platte River and enjoy our live fish and wildlife exhibits.
WHEN: Saturday, July 18, 2015. 8:00 AM start for the 5K, 9:00 AM start for the Kids’ Mile.
WHERE: Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center, just south of I-80 at Alda Exit 305, 7 miles west of Grand Island, Nebraska.
AWARDS & TAKEAWAYS: All adult entrants will receive a commemorative finisher medal for completing the race; Kids’ Mile
participants will receive a participation ribbon. Buffalo Stampede trophies will be awarded to the 5K male and female winners and
the Kids’ Mile winner and runner-up.
Custom-designed t-shirts will be given to all who register by July 1, 2015. Entrants who register after July 1, including race-day
entrants, will receive shirts while supplies last.
ENTRY FEE: Buffalo Stampede 5K—Early registration is $20 and must be received by July 1, 2015; after July 1, registration is $25.
Kids’ Mile—Early registration is $12 and must be received by July 1, 2015; after July 1 Kids’ Mile registration is $15.
REGISTRATION: Please mail your completed registration and check (payable to The Crane Trust) to CTNVC, 9325 S. Alda Rd,
Wood River, NE 68883. Complete one registration form per entrant. You must register by July 1 to be guaranteed a shirt; shirts are
available to late registrants while supplies last. 5K REGISTRATIONS ARE LIMITED TO 150 PARTICIPANTS.
RACE PACKET PICKUP: Friday, July 17, 12 PM—6 PM at the Crane Trust Nature & Visitor Center, 9325 S. Alda Rd. Wood River, NE.
Morning of the race, packet pick-up begins at 7:00 AM.
WAIVER OF LIABILITY: In consideration of this entry, I, the signee, intending to be legally responsible for myself, my heirs, my
executors and administrators, waive and release all claims for damages I may have against the Crane Trust and its representatives,
successors and assigns for any and all injuries suffered by me in said event or arising out of my participation in this event. I attest
and verify that I am medically able and properly trained for this race event.
NO ONE MAY ENTER THIS EVENT WITHOUT SIGNING THIS WAIVER. RUNNERS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE MUST HAVE A PARENT
OR GUARDIAN’S SIGNATURE OF PERMISSION.

BUILDING A LEGACY ON THE PLATTE: The Crane Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and maintenance of
critical habitat for the endangered whooping crane, sandhill cranes, and other migratory birds along the Platte River through
scientific research, habitat management, community outreach, and education.
Proceeds from the Buffalo Stampede will go to support Crane Trust conservation programs along the Platte River.
