Kulbir Kirkland - Brampton CrossFit

Kulbir Kirkland
Kulbir joined BCF before it was BCF. When the workouts went down in the middle of a
soccer field, when members were motivated more by the swarms of mosquitoes than the
shouts of their coaches. Since those early days, Kulbir has become a fixture at Brampton
CrossFit. She is fun, has a distinct laugh, and attends religously. She has also been working
her butt off lately, and the results show! Awesome gains Kulbir. Keep it up!!
When did you start CrossFit?
Summer of 2012, it wasn’t Brampton Crossfit then, it was Functionally Fit Bootcamp and we
were out in a field rain or shine.
What was your first WOD?
Not sure I just know it involved a fight with mosquitos, and I was yelling at Josée for the
whole hour.
What is your favourite movement/lift?
I have a few that I really like. Deadlifts. KB swings and DUs.
Least favourite movement/lift?
My least favourite right now is T2B. It is one that I have been struggling with for a while. I am determined to get it
one day so will keep practicing.
What is your favourite cheat food?
I have 2…Pizza and my mom’s alhoo paratha (potatoe filled roti)…mouth is
watering now.
Hobbies outside of the box?
Cardmaking and spending time with my family and friends.
Occupation?
Mom first and cardmaker 2nd.
Future goals?
Outside of the box I want to help my kids be the very best that they can be.
Inside the box pullups without a band and T2B.
If you were an animal, what would you be?
I would love to be an Orca. I think they are absolutely beautiful and I would love
to know what it feels like to swim.
Pie: filling or crust?
Both, if I am going to eat a pie I’m eating the whole thing.
Best CrossFit memory?
Doing Tough Mudder with members from the box. That was
my first time doing a race and I had such an awesome time.
Learned a lot about myself and what I was and am capable
of doing. Having my family there to support me in my new
found love was the icing on the cake
Funniest CrossFit fail?
It was very recent, during Barbell Club Paul was showing me
how to do a squat clean and as I was bringing the bar up he
was telling me to get the bar closer to my body and I must say
I did an awesome job because I smacked the underside of
my chin so hard, and to top it off Paul yells out “yes that’s it!”.
