Recognize the regulating bodies that control the transportation of dangerous goods. Identify what regulations/publications each organization is responsible for. Determine if a worker is qualified to transport Class 7 Radioactive Materials. Identify the required elements of a Training Certificate. Recognize the symbols for all classes of dangerous goods. Recognize what shipments are considered Class 7 Radioactive Materials. Classify Class 7 Radioactive Materials into the appropriate category. Discuss the requirements for air and ground transport Determine what type of package is required for a specific shipment. Describe the tests that must be passed in order for a package to be acceptable. Explain the requirements of an over pack. Recognize and identify safety marks found on dangerous goods shipments. Recognize the difference between Radioactive I, II and III packages. Calculate and verify the Transport Index (TI) of a radioactive shipment. Recognize a UN number. Explain the markings on the label of Class 7 dangerous good. Complete a Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods. Identify the required placarding for a shipment of dangerous goods. Describe the process of receiving a Class 7 Radioactive shipment. Identify a package that has been tampered with or damaged. Describe the process of disposing of or re-using shipping packages. Identify a Dangerous Occurrence as defined by the CNSC. Identify an Accidental Release as defined by Transport Canada. Describe how to respond to an emergency situation. Outline the required information for an official report on a Dangerous Occurrence. Joe Cortese, BSc (Physics), CRPA(R) Course Instructor Joe is the Radiation Safety Specialist with KRMC Inc. and the Radiation/Laser Safety Officer at BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology). He successfully developed and implemented an on-line series of RSO training courses and Class 7 TDG Workshops with outstanding feedback. Joe has trained over 500 people on Class 7 TDG. Joe is an active member of CRPA and currently serves on a number of CRPA Committees. He has worked in the Medical Physics department of the BC Cancer Agency. Joe received his BSc. (in Physics) from the University of British Columbia in 1999. He also earned his CRPA (R) designation in 2010 from the Canadian Radiation Protection Association.
