2015 COMMUNITY ENGAGED EDUCATOR AWARD Application Packet APPLICATIONS DUE APRIL 10, 2015 Connecticut Campus Compact’s Award Program The Annual Awards Program honors representatives of Connecticut Campus Compact (CTCC)’s member institutions who exemplify the public purposes of colleges and universities by deepening their ability to implement all forms of public engagement, providing civic pathways to academic and career success, and nurturing a culture of engaged citizenship on campus and within communities. In awarding these honors, Connecticut Campus Compact hopes to promote knowledge sharing among education, community, government, and business leaders on critical issues, as well as increase public awareness of and support for campus-community partnerships. Winners will be honored at the CTCC Awards Breakfast on June 17, 2015 from 8:00am-10:00am at the Pond House in West Hartford. All applicants will be sent event information and should make every attempt to attend the event. Award Overview: Community Engaged Educator The Connecticut Campus Compact Community Engaged Educator Award recognizes and honors an outstanding individual for significant impact on student civic learning and development through activities such as academic service-learning, co-curricular service engagement, and/or leadership development. The individual awarded this honor is recognized for their role in creating and furthering a culture of engagement through working with campus leadership, supporting faculty/staff engagement, and fostering meaningful community partnerships. Eligibility Recipient must be affiliated with a current Connecticut Campus Compact member institution. Recipient must have participated in community engagement education activities during the 2014-2015 academic year. Criteria For consideration of the award, the applicant must demonstrate: Their dedication to community and civic engagement education. Significant impact on student civic learning and development, through service-learning, cocurricular service, leadership development and/or other engagement activities. Experience in creating and implementing mechanisms to support and sustain student involvement and empowerment as it is related to service/community-based learning activities A role in expanding awareness of, support for, and participation in community engagement among staff, faculty, and administrators across campus. History of fostering community involvement and participation through campus-community collaborations. Community Engaged Educator Award Application 2015 1 Award Application Process All applications are due to CTCC by 5:00pm Friday, April 10, 2015. Applications are reviewed by a selected group of reviewers from Connecticut Campus Compact’s network, and the composition of the review group is based on the specific award. Two letters of recommendation: from a campus administrator, faculty member, student, or community representative who is familiar with nominee’s community engaged educator work. Optional: News links, video or multimedia links, articles, photos, brochures, etc. reflecting the applicant’s work. Include all materials in a single document that is not to exceed 5 pages. Submitting Applications All application materials, including letter(s) of recommendation, must be completed and sent in a single email. This could include service-learning, co-curricular service, and/or leadership development. How have served as an advocate for community service, service-learning, and/or civic engagement? What activities and approaches have you used to promote and support engagement with campus leadership, faculty, and staff? How have you worked to develop and foster community partnerships? Please limit response to 2,000 words. This award recognizes the most outstanding Community Engaged Educator in the state of Connecticut. As a recommender, please complete the cover sheet, including your signature, and attach a letter of recommendation explaining why you believe the individual deserves to be recognized and indicate how the individual meets the criteria listed below.
