Trends Guide 2016 Dear Customer, The colour trends for Season 2016 have been selected and our design team have been out and about travelling to the various international trend exhibitions. When it comes to research, we look at galleries, museums, cat walks, environmental issues, architectural projects, television, cinema and other global events that may have a major impact on the world at large. All of this information is analysed and we question if it effects, drives or deepens existing trends. We keep an eye on what’s trending around the world of twitter and Instagram and look for common denominators. World events can have major impact on colours. Prior to 9/11 the colour palette would have been awash with colour, but then trends turned to greys and browns. These are classic colours and will always have a strong position in fashion. Global recession returned us to familiar colours that put us in a happy place and made us feel safe. We turned back to childhood memories and long existing brands re-emerged. Colours and textures from our youth focused us on more contented times. Over the next few years we saw the neons and cheerful colours emerge making us feel happy, good about ourselves and not feel guilty about spending money on frivolous items. Colour trends now are influenced by keeping an eye on the past and respecting traditional crafts and values while integrating more modern twists and designs. The “Hippie/Bohemian” trend helps us not take ourselves too seriously and relax a little. As the world continues to war, the spiritual calm colours give balance to our lives and we must appreciate what we have and give nature its true respect.
