Help CUMAC Change Its Look LOGO REDESIGN CONTEST CUMAC is a nonprofit organization that works to alleviate hunger and its root causes for those in need in Paterson, Passaic County, and northern NJ. Started in the late 1970s as a volunteer-run food pantry, the agency, which is celebrating its 30th year of incorporation, now employs over 20 people and operates the following programs to address its mission: Food Pantry & Depot Pantry provides direct food assistance (bagged groceries) to over 3,000 people each month Depot solicits, transports, warehouses and distributes resources for CUMAC’s programs as well as nearly 60 nonprofit partners Organizes regional food drives to bring resources to Passaic County Community Food Coalition Provides administrative & resource support to 35 Passaic County pantries Screens clients for eligibility and writes referrals to member pantries Manages client database software, collects data & analyzes it to understand trends in food need Determines proper distribution of Depot food resources based on data Community Closet Provides free clothing & household items to victims of domestic violence, house fire, natural or other disaster Runs a Thrift Shop to offer the community a chance to purchase affordable, quality goods, thus enhancing their self-sufficiency and generating critical program revenue Pathways to Work Job training program offers participants a chance to Gain hands-on work experience in a supportive environment Build job skills & develop critical employment competencies Contribute to the mission of our organization, and the health of the community as a whole Advocacy & Special Projects CUMAC runs a number of seasonal projects (including School Supplies and a Holiday Wish List) in order to respond to specific community needs. We also take an active role in pushing for systemic change related to the root causes of poverty and hunger. In the beginning, we used a simple “stamp out hunger” image as our logo. In 2004 our Board of Trustees created an original logo and tagline that more accurately captured the agency at the time. Shortly after we opted to shorten our name to “CUMAC.” It is now time for another update to capture everything CUMAC is doing today. We are looking for a logo that will accurately capture our programs, and convey the mission of CUMAC in order to best promote our work & encourage engagement. ... In the beginning … ... Complete rules & regulations on the reverse. LOGO REDESIGN CONTEST RULES & GUIDELINES Timeline: The contest begins May 1, 2015 The submission deadline is Tuesday, June 30, 2015. The winner will be announced via our website, social media and by direct contact with the winner(s) following the review period. To submit an entry Submit your entry by e-mail directly to [email protected] with name of entrant in the subject line Entrants may submit up to 3 distinct entries Contest is open to individuals or groups of all ages. If you are under the age of 18, your parent or legal guardian must sign and submit the consent form on CUMAC’s contest page (www.cumacecho.org/logo.html). To enter the contest, all entries must adhere to the guidelines below The e-mail must include the name, age, address, phone number, and e-mail address of the entrant, as well as the approximate number of volunteer hours used to create the logo entry The logo must be submitted in its original source file The logo must be submitted as a high resolution, scalable vector graphic in EPS format, and also as a JPG and PNG (resolution of 300dpi or higher) Attachment size limit for your e-mail is 10MB; more than one email is permissible but each should be labeled (email 1 of x, 2 of x, etc.) The logo must be able to resize easily and should look great in black and white, as well as color; A squared version of the logo should be submitted if that is not the natural orientation of the logo The logo will be used online, in print, and on merchandise; the final version of the logo needs to be suitable for high quality printing The logo must promote the mission of CUMAC, accurately capture the reach of CUMAC’s programs, and should relate to a general audience Entrants are welcome to contact [email protected] to arrange a tour of CUMAC’s facility to learn more about our history and programs Logos cannot include copyrighted or licensed materials Logos must be original, and should be created and edited by the entrant The logo(s) must contain the word “CUMAC” though there can be a visual element that can be used independent of the word(s) Participation is voluntary, entrants are aware they will receive no monetary compensation Use of Submissions By submitting an entry, the artist agrees that CUMAC will become the rightful owner of the logo (whether selected as the winner or not) and any likeness of the logo, and CUMAC may alter, revise and reproduce the image at its discretion. The final logo design winner may not necessarily be used as CUMAC’s official logo, but may be used for other promotional purposes. Non-winning selections may be used by CUMAC as well, and entrants of these submissions will be notified if CUMAC exercises this option. In the event that no entry is selected, CUMAC reserves the right to declare no winner and hold the contest again at a later date. Selection of a Winner All entry designs will be screened and scored by a panel of judges selected by CUMAC. Votes on social media will also be factored into score totals. Judging decisions are final and may not be appealed. Entrants agree that CUMAC may publish their logo and name(s) and may use both for advertising campaigns and/or marketing materials. Entrants consign all ownership rights, including all intellectual property rights of the logo, to CUMAC. The Winner will Be featured in a press release, blog post, and on CUMAC’s website when the new logo is rolled out Be invited to an event in the fall (date TBD) to unveil the new logo Receive a gift certificate for dinner as a token of gratitude for ultimately helping CUMAC to feed people & change lives Consent By participating in the contest, the entrant consents that he/she has read, understands and agrees to the rules and guidelines stated above.
