Canon Evans Newsletter 12
It’s the summer term, we’re going to be busy!
The Canons Primary School News
We have samples of the new school uniform displayed in the entrance hall for you to look at. From September
the new school uniform will be worn by everyone.
The new school will continue with the Canon Maggs house system. Your child will be given a house. Each house
has a colour. A new logo has been designed by Canon Maggs and made into a badge. The house colour is
incorporated into this badge.
Your child will wear a purple sweatshirt or cardigan with their house logo on, a white polo shirt with no logo and
grey trousers or skirt. The summer dress will be in lilac gingham.
For PE they will need a t-shirt in their house colour with the logo on and black or navy shorts.
There will be a new school book bag. Mrs Fallon has no plans for a PE bag.
The Nicholas Chamberlaine Trust is kindly buying each child either 2 sweatshirts or 2 cardigans. Vouchers for
these will be available soon. You will be able to purchase the rest of the uniform with the logo on from Toye
Kenning.
Open Friday - 2.30 p.m.
This Friday 14th May you are most welcome to come and visit your child in their classroom and join in with the
activities on offer. This is not a time when you take your child home early.
Bun Day Celebrations – Friday 22nd May at 10.30 a.m.
You are most welcome to join us in remembering Nicholas Chamberlaine on Founders Day, at the Almshouses.
You can either meet us there or walk with us from school at about 9.50 a.m.
The children in Year 1 and 2 are learning about the generosity of the Rev Nicholas Chamberlaine who died 300
years ago and is one of Bedworth’s greatest benefactors. Over the years we have been very fortunate to
benefit from the Trust fund he set up, and we are proud to be part of Bedworth’s history.
To help the children really celebrate this day the Governors of the Nicholas Chamberlaine Trust will grant the
children a half-day holiday. School will close at 1.05 p.m. Skamps Club will be open in the afternoon if enough parents
request it. Please see Skamps staff if you need a place.
Nepal
Year 2 have learning about natural disasters and how they can support others. This was just around the time
the earthquake hit in Nepal. So they are collecting for the earthquake victims If you would like to give a
donation Mrs Skraga, in the office, will add it to the tin. We will also be collecting on Open Friday.
Sunshine
If we have any sun!! we always encourage the children to wear a hat that covers their head and protects their
eyes. We prefer children not to wear sunglasses unless they have a medical reason from the doctor.
Many sun protection creams now last all day but should you wish your child to apply sun protection cream at
dinner time then they will be supervised doing this but Child Protection issues mean that staff cannot help.
Please make sure their bottle is named and easy to use.
PTA Disco –
Friday 14th May 4.30 -6.00 p.m.
We are looking forward to the disco on Friday night. Let us have fun with the children while you take a break!
