Concept of Competition
To establish a CUPE Local 218 Logo that can be used on websites, signage, inside the
establishment, for clothing designs, advertising media, etc.
Rules of Competition
1.
The deadline for submission is April 30, 2015.
2.
All submissions must include CUPE, in the design.
3.
All entries must be accompanied by the name of the artist.
4.
By submitting an entry, you agree to be bound by the competition rules and transfer all
rights of the design without limitation to CUPE Local 218 to use, display, make copies, publish in
any media, alter, etc. Entries will become the sole and exclusive property of CUPE Local 218.
5.
Submit original artwork or comprehensive layouts. The work must be original but can
incorporate the CUPE symbol. Consideration should be given to simple reproduction capabilities to
a number of media processes. CUPE Local 218 reserves the right to adjust reproduction art for
optimum reproducibility to a variety of visual processes.
6.
The logo should be easily displayed and usable in both a colour and black-and-white
environment.
7.
A short paragraph, explaining the concept of the design, is required.
8.
If all entries are deemed unsuitable or unqualified, the Local Committee will have the right to
determine whether to extend the dateline, reject all submissions and declare the competition
ended without awarding a winner, use the existing logo, have a logo created for the Local or hold
another competition in the sole and absolute discretion of CUPE Local 218.
9.
CUPE Local 218 reserves the right to modify the competition rules and regulations at any
time.
10. CUPE Local 218 will review all submissions and reserves the right to reject any submission,
for any reason.
11. Entries will not be returned and will become the sole property of CUPE Local 218.
12. All entries must adhere to the entry specifications outlined below.
Eligibility
1.
Competition is open to any CUPE local 218 member.
2.
Participants must submit their final product (s) to [email protected] before 4:00 p.m.
April 30, 2015.
Entry Specifications
1.
All entries must be submitted electronically in a .jpg, or .png and PDF (.pdf) format. If you are
able to submit a vector (.eps or .ai) format, it would be ideal.
2.
Entries must be shown in black and white and in colour.
3.
Professional: This logo may be featured on our website, our social media platforms, and
other mediums (stationary, pamphlets, clothing etc.). As a result, while we want the logo to be
eye-catching, it must still be legible.
4.
The winning logo will be used in a variety of ways, so your design should be scalable. This
means, for example- if used on letterhead, it will print quite small (perhaps 1 1/4" in size,)
therefore, tiny details will be hard to see. Test your design for this smaller scale.
5.
Only one entry per email will be accepted.
Winner Selection
The CUPE Local 218 Contest Committee will have right to pick any final Logo to be used as an
official logo for the Local.
The winner will be announced via our website, social media websites, newsletter, and by
direct contact to the winner's email account, or by phone.
