MARS SUMMER ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
Incoming Kindergarten through Incoming Ninth Grade
(Morning Session)
Program Description: The Math, Arts, Reading and Science Summer Enrichment Program (MARS) is designed to present
students with skills and enrichment activities that foster academic success. Students will be actively engaged through
various experiences including reading and math enrichment, hands-on science experiments, technology-based learning,
and an array of other activities that foster positive development.
Staff Hours: 8:15 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Unless otherwise specified)
Dates: June 29-July 31, 2015
Locations:
1)
Chester Upland School of the Arts (CUSA) for Incoming Kindergarten through Incoming 6th grade students
2)
STEM at Showalter for incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students
Staff Needed:
(14) K- 6th grade certified teachers
(4) 7th -9th grade content certified teachers (2 English/Language Arts & 2 Mathematics)

and an array of other activities that foster positive development.

Position Description
MARS afternoon staff will support the implementation, climate, and operations of the enrichment component of MARS
while engaging students in fun, interesting activities. Afternoon staff must be energetic and able to connect enrichment
activities to learning. Staff must be patient, caring and possess ability to defuse potentially disruptive situations.
Afternoon staff will be responsible for motivating students through structured extended learning opportunities.

Program Description: Extended School Year (ESY) is provided to all eligible students who require summer programming
in order to prevent regression of skills. The program includes academic work, hands on activities and a trip/leisure
activity every week.
Staff Hours: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm
Location: STEM at Showalter
Grades: All
Dates: June 29-July 31, 2015
Hours for Students: 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
