Health Care Options CVCC offers health care coverage to our employees through Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield and Aetna. The College pays the majority of the cost, the employee paying the remaining pre-taxed by payroll deduction. Flexible Spending Program Flexible Spending Accounts allow you to set aside a portion of your pay, each pay period, on a pre-tax basis for a fiscal year (July 1-June 30) with a $3.67 per month administration fee. There are two types of reimbursement accounts: Medical and Dependent Care. Retirement Plans Full-time Classified Staff and Full-time Faculty participate in the Virginia Retirement System Retirement Plan (VRS). The hybrid retirement plan is a combination of two different types of plans: a defined benefit plan and a defined contribution plan. Full-time Faculty has the choice of VRS or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). The two ORP providers are Fidelity Investments Tax-Exempt Services and TIAA-CREF. You become vested when you accumulate five years of credited service. Educational Assistance All CVCC employees are eligible to take a maximum of six credit college credit hours per semester (12 per year) tuition free at the college under the Educational Assistance & Continuous Learning Program. Voluntary Deductions There are numerous voluntary deductions offered to employees through payroll deduction i.e., U.S. Savings Bonds, United Way, Credit Union, personal insurance programs, etc. Basic and Optional Group Life Insurance As an employee, you are provided, at no cost to you, a two times (2x) your annual base salary life insurance policy through Minnesota Life. You are also eligible to purchase optional group life insurance for natural and accidental death and dismemberment for yourself and your family. Virginia Sickness and Disability Programs (VSDP) VSDP gives employees sick leave, family and personal leave, and short and long-term disability benefits. New classified employees are automatically enrolled after one year and covered at 60% for the first five years and 100% after that time period. In addition, new classified employees earn annual leave at a rate of eight hours per month. Faculty leave is dependent upon the retirement plan selection. Direct Deposit/PayLine As a CVCC employee, you are required to use direct deposit. The ability to view/print your pay history, pay stubs, and W-2 history is available on PayLine. Deferred Compensation Plan Whether you have the VRS defined benefit plan or one of the Optional Retirement Plans as your primary retirement benefit, or if you are a wage employee, you are eligible to enroll in the Commonwealth of Virginia 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. Enrollment in the 457 State Deferred Compensation will be automatic for full-time employees unless waived by the employee. Current legislation provides for a Cash Match program for qualified participants. The cash match amount is 50% of the employee contribution up to $20 per semi-monthly or $40/per monthly payday. Leave Sharing Employees may request donated annual leave if the employee experiences leave without pay due to a personal illness or injury or family member’s illness or injury for which the employee is using Family and Medical Leave (FMLA).
