Who is CV? CV is a fellowship of evangelical Christians who consider gospel ministry an important priority. We aim, through God’s mercy, to raise faithful and able servants of the gospel, whether they’re ordained or lay and in local or overseas ministries. Men and women with gifts of leadership, Bible teaching and evangelism and a passion to see the gospel preached are urgently needed in our world – the Lord’s harvest is plenty, and the workers so few. We are passionate about seeing the next generation of gospel workers encouraged, challenged and mentored as they pray and plan for an exciting and spiritually rewarding life of full time gospel ministry. CV Conference also aims to gather those already in full-time ministry so that they can train and encourage this next generation. Whatever stage a person has reached in considering gospel ministry, CV aims to help them progress in their thinking, planning and taking action. ADARE CAMPSITE, VICTOR HARBOR OCTOBER LONG WEEKEND More info? Conference details Adare campsite is located on Wattle Street, Victor Harbor. Registration begins at 6pm on Friday 2nd October with the first session commencing at 8pm. Departure time is 2pm on Monday 5th October. Children are welcome; however, we regret that we are unable to offer a crèche or children’s program. If it’s possible, we recommend organising family or friends to look after your children over the weekend – to provide you with more time to quietly pray and reflect as a couple. Chris Jolliffe: 8213 7300 Email: [email protected] www.cvsa.org.au Founding supporters of CV Friday 2nd – Monday 5th October 2015 “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” JESUS OF NAZARETH CV stands for Christian Vocation Who should come? Our aim is to raise up faithful, passionate Christian leaders for Adelaide and around the world. CV Conference provides a rare and precious opportunity to take time out, away from daily responsibilities and distractions, to think and pray through your ministry plans for the future and answer the question ‘Why not full time gospel ministry?’. At the conference, you’ll enjoy a variety of Bible talks, small group discussions, elective seminars and personal mentoring with a ‘coach’. At CV Conference, you’ll also have the chance to build relationships among like-minded Christian leaders, current and future, from all across South Australia. CV is particularly for those who are open to considering the possibility of vocational ministry. We also welcome and encourage anyone with the following questions to attend: » What will I do for the rest of my life? » What gifts has God given me for Christian ministry? » Should I consider training for vocational ministry? » What am I willing to give up to preach the gospel? » What opportunities are available? » Who can help me make these decisions? CV is also for those already in vocational ministry who long to see others join them! 2015 Conference Chris Jolliffe Without a doubt, the strongest encourager of people into vocational ministry is Jesus Christ himself. Chris Jolliffe will be drilling deep into the gold mine of John’s gospel to unearth and share Jesus’ rich encouragement to give our lives in service of Him. Chris is the chair of CV, the families pastor at Holy Trinity Adelaide, married to Narelle, and is Dad to three teenage daughters. Mike Raiter Mike Raiter trains and mentors preachers through the Centre for Biblical Preaching. Presenting every man and woman mature in Christ is the greatest work of all. But how and, importantly, why should I commit myself to proclaiming Christ? What are godly motivations for ministry? Mike will address these critical questions in three talks from 2 Corinthians. 1 2 3 4 Testimonials 1 Stephanie, CMS 5 I’d always thought that I would end up in some kind of Christian work, but thoughts and actions are two different things! It was at CV that I met real-life workers who put a face on Christian work for me, and that God took me beyond intention, to the point of committing to full-time vocational work. 2 Shane & Caitlin Ellery, FOCUS Flinders & St Matthew’s We both desired to be faithful ministers of the gospel but were less clear about the when, where, how, and to whom. CV was instrumental in helping us to answer some of these questions and then to take steps towards seeing it happen. We feel deeply indebted to CV and thoroughly recommend it for anyone who is serious about thinking through what it means to serve God with our whole lives. 3 Darren & Jude Russ, Associate Pastor, Trinity Mount Barker We found ourselves considering full-time Gospel ministry in our mid-forties and were able to attend CV Conference together in 2011. We always thank God for having such a great opportunity to receive uplifting teaching from His word, to be encouraged by like-minded people and benefit from great practical advice through the one-on-one coaching sessions. It really clarified so many questions and encouraged us in our decision making journey. 4 Reuben Salagaras, AFES Staff Worker, Adelaide University CV gave me space each year to deliberately consider how I could best serve God and his people in the longer-term, and what it would take to make that happen. The coaching times are an amazing opportunity! Jane Agnew, Ministry Apprentice, FOCUS Adelaide CV is a permanent fixture on my calendar! On a personal level, it is wonderfully refreshing to spend a weekend away to spend time considering how I can best use my time and abilities to serve God faithfully. It is amazing to hear from God’s Word and draw from the wisdom and experience of other Christians. It has also been instrumental in my marriage, as it has encouraged and challenged us as a couple to plan our future around the call of Christ. 5
