GREAT SAMPLE LETTER March 1, 2007 Dear Friends and Family, This summer, I have the opportunity to lead a group from Redeemer Presbyterian Church on a short-term mission project. I will be traveling with 21 high school students and 4 other adult leaders to the country of Costa Rica from July 14-22, 2007. While there, we will be partnering with Young Life International – a “relationally-focused” ministry dedicated to bringing the gospel to the youth of the world. Last summer my team worked with Young Life in the Dominican Republic. We spent part of the week working on various construction projects in order to improve the facilities of the summer camp. (That’s me working on some concrete steps.) The end of our stay in the DR was spent in a small community. Each member of the team spent a couple nights with a local family. We had an opportunity to learn about the Dominican culture and build some great friendships. This year’s trip to Costa Rica will provide similar opportunities for ministry. We will work on various construction projects and participate in local Young Life community clubs. My goals for our summer mission trips are (1) to expose high school students to other cultures, (2) to observe the gospel ministry at work all over the world, (3) to grow together as a community, and (4) to grow closer to Christ personally. Will you please pray for these things to happen as a result of this trip? In order to participate this summer I need to raise $1500. This money will provide for travel and on-site costs for the 9-day project.
