Festival Information - Special Olympics World Games

LA2015 FESTIVALS
JULY 24 – AUGUST 2, 2015 Ÿ USC and UCLA
The competitions hosted during the nine days of July and August 2015 are
only one aspect of the 2015 Special Olympics World Games. Much of the
action and excitement outside the arenas and competition fields will occur
in the two World Festivals hosted on the campuses of UCLA and USC.
Athletes, Family Members and Spectators converge in these festive
environments for interactive and entertaining events that include live
musical performances, cultural education and demonstrations, interactive
technology and gaming, sponsor activations, great food and family-friendly
activities. Enthusiastic fans will meet Special Olympics Athletes from an
array of cultural and sporting backgrounds while also participating in fan
engagement opportunities that send messages of support and
encouragement to the competing athletes. Art installations and activities as
diverse as the cultural landscape of Los Angeles ensure that there
is something for everyone. The festivals are free and open to the public,
daily, though some evening events may be at a limited capacity due to
space restrictions. A complete schedule of activities and entertainment
will be provided closer to Games-time.
CULTURE CONNECTIONS
FESTIVAL OPERATIONS
The Culture Connections program focuses on the seven days
of Games-time activities between the Opening and Closing

Regions will be represented with its own dedicated day of
authentic cultural performances, programming, food and other
educational offerings. The regional breakdown of countries
with Special Olympics programs is located on the reverse side
of this document and the identified Culture Connections days
and locations are included below in the festival operating days
and hours.
