NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER IS MAY 7. JOIN US IN PRAYER!
The 64th annual National Day of Prayer, May 7, 2015, will have profound significance
for our country. It is an opportunity to see the Lord’s healing and renewing power made
manifest as we call on citizens to come humbly before His throne. The theme for 2015 is
“Lord, Hear Our Cry.” First Kings 8:28 has been chosen as the scripture for this year:
“Hear the cry and the prayer that Your servant is praying in Your presence this day.” We
are asking God to bring spiritual renewal and transformation to our land. Pastor Jack
Graham wrote a special prayer to be read simultaneously throughout the nation at noon. This recitation will create a
huge wave of prayer, flowing from one coast to the other, illustrating the unity of God’s people and acknowledging
His dominion over the circumstances facing us. Millions of people will gather to pray at thousands of events. Come
join us ON THE HISTORIC SQUARE IN DOWNTOWN DALLAS to pray together as a community for our leaders and our nation. The public is invited to the square THURSDAY, MAY 7, AT NOON. In case of rain the event
will be held in our sanctuary.
A Word From Warren
Call to Ministry
Spring is here and everything is in
full bloom. Summer will soon be here, with many
programs and places to minister. We need volunteers to carry out these ministries. Here are a few
places:
Summer Lunch Program: Last year we delivered
over 7,000 meals to help feed people in our community.
River of Life: 150 adults and youth completed
roofs, painted, and built wheelchair ramps, and
many other jobs for our community.
Vacation Bible School (VBS): Over 200 children
were ministered to as they came and learned about
God and experienced fellowship with other Christians.
Summer Mission Trip Costa Rica: 22 people went
to Costa Rica and worked. This year’s summer
mission is a trip to Haiti.
Gateway to Victory Learning Center, our school
in Kenya, Africa: To learn more about this project
and how you can help, contact Melette Meloy at
[email protected] or 678-3639897.
These are some of the things our church
will be doing along with ministry to all children,
youth, and adults of all ages in various ways to
show God’s love. Some of our youth will be
graduating, and moving onto college or work. Our
Children’s Learning Center’s graduating students
will go into elementary school as they have grown
spiritually, mentally, and physically here in our
church. We will be celebrating Mother’s Dayand
Father’s Day as we honor the men and women of
our church. With so many places to volunteer, you
are needed wherever you can to be a part of God’s
ministry with the Christians at Dallas First UMC.
We also want to welcome the 25 members
listed at the end of this article who joined the Dallas First Family on April 19 at our Confirmation
Service. We are honored that they have

claimed Dallas First UMC as their church home. We pray that God will
continue to bring people into our church family; all are welcome. May
God continue to bless you all!

Success!!!
Praise the
Lord! We raised a total of $5,600 at the Silent Auction. We want to thank everyone
who helped. Your hard work and dedication
made it a huge success!
DO YOU ...
HAVE A HEART TO OUTREACH TO
THOSE IN NEED?
We have a dynamic and very active Outreach

work schedule, she is in need of a co-chair to help
lead future Outreach events. If you have a heart to
outreach and serve others, please consider cochairing Outreach with Lisa. You do not have to be
a current member of the Outreach Committee to
co chair. If you have any questions about the position, or if you are interested in co chairing, please

ideas to improve each year’s event. New members are always welcome! Fresh blood to helpful
and encouraged!

showers, and back to church. Driver’s license and insurance required!

will give you a list of our needs and even where to pick them up. This is a very important job!
