Over twenty years ago in a little storefront in Homer Glen, IL, Marianne started The Dance Studio Ltd, to share the joy of dance she had known since a little girl. Her idea was to take specific education principles and combine them with dance techniques, even for the youngest of her students. The goal was to foster an appreciation and dedication to dance from an early age on. The result was rapid growth and over the years, the addition of other area studios. This fully staged, full costumed event held in a large local venue provides all students of The Dance Studio Ltd with an opportunity to be a part of a major musical production. In 1992, The Dance Studio Ltd introduced its high level Dance Troupe. This invitation-only is for more serious dance students looking to explore advanced levels of dance. To date, several Dance Troupe alumni have gone on to pursue dance careers in nationally recognized professional dance troupes and companies. Tot Tap—Ages 4-6 Pointe I— Dance Programs Gifted/Special Needs— A class designed for children with special needs. We focus on stretch, inner core strength, and the instructor will work hand in hand with your child’s personal therapist. We focus on each individual child’s needs whether it is physical or psychological. Our goal is to bring the joy of dance to those who never thought it was possible. Dance Camp—(I ages 6-8/ II ages 9-11) Dance Camp is a fun combination of hip hop and jazz. The class will learn a dance number to keep in their repertoire. Camp II incorporates Dance Team technique. All requirements of the previous level must be mastered, as well as the ability to execute basic pointe steps center floor before entering this level. Pointe II— Fluidity, artistry, and complexity of pointe movement must be mastered. All pointe placements are at the sole discretion of the instructor alone. Comportment in pointe class should be evident. The standard of etiquette maintained throughout pointe class must be impeccable. Hip Hop—Ages 9+ Beginning Levels I-III, Intermediate & Advanced A contemporary style of jazz technique blended with popular hip hop flavor. One year of jazz technique is required. Lyrical Contemporary—Ages 8+ A style of dance created from the fusion of ballet with jazz and contemporary dance techniques. Must have a minimum of one year ballet technique.
