Flamenco Dance Workshop
A rare opportunity to gain some flamenco dance knowledge.
This course focuses on graceful hands, arms and posture to
fuse with belly dancing techniques as well as an insight to
understanding flamenco rhythms.
Skill level – all welcome.
Extremely beneficial for the advanced student,
however all may learn from this workshop.

Veronica Gillmer
Worked in Spain as a professional flamenco dancer
for 12 years, performing in many different companies
including Antonio del Castillo, La Singla y sus Gitanos,
Miguel Sandoval etc.
Also performed for more than eight years at Torres
Bermejas tablao flamenco with very famous artists
including Camaron de la Isla, Manolete Maya, La Tati,
Paco Cepero, Manuel Sordera, Jose Merce and
many more.
Also toured Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland,
Japan and many provinces in Spain.
Gillmer has given many workshops in New Zealand,
Adelaide, Perth and Japan.
Returning to Australia in the 1980s, Veronica formed
several dance companies including ‘The Flamenco
Crew’, a highly successful fusion dance group
including Indian and Aboriginal artists.
Veronica also choreographed several times for
Opera Australia – Carmen, La Traviata.
She was ‘exotic choreographer’ for Baz Luhrmann’s
Strictly Ballroom – the stage show at The Wharf
Studios. The highly successful show won several
prizes in Czechoslovakia. Baz Luhrmann went on
to make the award winning film.
Veronica was the ‘Flamenco dancer’ in
Graham Murphy’s Nutcracker in 2000.
