Where can I pay with this debit card?
You can use your card to pay at all point-of-sale (POS) terminals and withdraw cash from cash dispensers (ATMs) carrying the
Maestro logo in the Netherlands and abroad. You can load your electronic wallet (CHIPKNIP) at all CHIPKNIP loading machines
in the Netherlands. You can also check the balance on your CHIPKNIP and, if necessary, transfer it to your current account.
Voorstel 1
At POS terminals carrying this logo, you can simply hold the debit card against the POS terminal. For amounts up to and
including € 25, you don’t need to use your PIN, making it quicker and easier to pay. It is also possible to pin in the “normal”
way by inserting the debit card into the POS terminal and entering your PIN. You will find more information about using the
debit card and the security aspects at the end of this folder.
Paying at parking meters and toll roads
To pay at some parking meters and toll roads, all you need to do is to insert the debit card in the machine, without entering
your PIN. This is not very widespread in the Netherlands yet but it is very common outside the Netherlands.

What do I need to take into account when I go abroad?
The cash withdrawal limit for ATMs abroad can differ by country or bank. ABN AMRO has no influence on this.
If you wish to use your debit card outside Europe, check your payment profile. The world profile also allows you to make
payments and withdrawals outside Europe. You can check your payment profile and change it via Internet Banking.
For more information, go to abnamro.nl/betaalprofiel. Or contact us at 0900 - 0024 (€ 0.10 per minute), or via

IBAN (International Bank Account Number)
Everyone in the Netherlands has, or will soon have, a longer bank account number. We call this IBAN. Use this account number
for all your payments in euros within the Netherlands and Europe. The last 9 digits of the IBAN are identical to your current bank
account number. For more information on IBAN, go to abnamro.nl/overopiban

This method of payment is secure. There is no
difference in the security level if you insert your
debit card into the POS terminal or hold the card
against it. If you lose your debit card or it is stolen,
and it is used to pay for items under € 25 without
a PIN, in principle we will reimburse the amount
as described in our Payment Services Conditions.
In the case of such payments, the own risk amount
as defined in these conditions no longer applies.
