Delhi Township Promotes Assistant to New Fire Chief
On Wednesday, April 29, 2015, the Delhi Township Board of
Trustees, by unanimous vote, formally passed a resolution
appointing Douglas S. Campbell to the position of Fire Chief. Mr.
Campbell has been serving as Interim Fire Chief since the retirement
of Fire Chief Bill Zoz on December 15, 2014.
“We are very lucky to have such talent and experience already
within the township”, said Township Administrator Pete Landrum.
“We are very confident that Doug will continue in taking the Fire
Department to the next level.”
Doug Campbell’s interest in the fire service began when he was 20
years old, volunteering with the Wayne Township Fire Department.
His career with Delhi Township started in 1996 when he was hired as a part-time
Firefighter/Paramedic, coinciding with his graduation from the University of Cincinnati with a
Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science.
Mr. Campbell rose quickly through the ranks at Delhi, being promoted to a full-time position in
1998, then on to Fire Lieutenant four years later. In addition to working full-time, Doug returned
to the University of Cincinnati, graduating with High Honors in 2004 and obtaining an additional
degree in Fire & Safety Engineering Technology. In 2006 he was promoted Fire Captain and on to
Assistant Fire Chief in 2008.
For the past four years, Mr. Campbell has also been enrolled in the Executive Fire Officer Program
at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland and is due to graduate this fall.
Accustomed to a hectic, fast paced lifestyle, you can see how well suited Doug Campbell is to the
role of Fire Chief. In addition to his years serving the community, he also works part-time as a
Fire Service Technology Instructor at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, has
recently been appointed to the Executive Board of the Hamilton County Fire Chiefs Association
and is very active in the Boy Scouts of America, none of which would be possible without the
support and understanding of his wife, Alisha and his three children Ian, Ethan and Rachel.
Mr. Campbell will be ceremonially sworn in as Delhi Township Fire Chief at the next meeting of
the Board of Trustees on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.
