April 7, 2015 - Lake Township

The Lake Township Trustees held a regular meeting Tuesday, April 7, 2015.
Trustee Pettit called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited.

The minutes of the March 17, 2015 meeting were approved.

Future meetings and Events:
2015 Spring Brush pick-up for the Unincorporated Areas of Lake Township
May 11 through May 15 areas west of 1-280
May 18 through May 22 areas east of 1-280
Brush for the unincorporated areas of Lake Township shall be in place by 7:30 a.m. the first
day of the week of the areas schedule for pick-up.
Brush pick-up i f for chippable brush only.
Brush shall be stacked as neatly and untangled as possible.
Brush shall be placed at the road edge with butt ends of all branches facing in the same
direction towards the road.
Garbage, yard waste and objects other than brush and limbs will not be picked-up.
Any brush piles that are deemed unchippable shall be documented by a picture by the Lake
Township Road Department and a final determination shall be made with-in twenty-four
hours by a Lake Township Trustee on the disposal of the brush pile.
Free wood chips are available at the Road Department on Ayers Road. Call 419-836-1143
for pick-up times.
Trunk/Vendor Show honoring MOM sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9963
will be held Saturday May 2 at the Banquet Hall, 109 N. Main Street, Walbridge from
10:00 to 5:00. Lunch available

OLD BUSINESS:
Luckey Rd. resident, Kirk Lathrop expressed frustration with the clean-up of a diesel fuel
spill new his home. Oil was also spotted on Latcha Road. EPA tested soil and conducted
testing of wells at a few residences and he asked i f the results will be Public Record and
available for review. The pipeline is operated by Buckeye Pipeline and they drew water
from residential wells for testing by a lab retained by the company. The Wood County
Health Department also conducted testing. Booms were put in the ditches for absorption and
the Railroad assumed clean-up near their property. Chief Moritz will request the Spill
Record Number from the EPA and keep the neighbors informed.
NEW BUSINESS: Starting Resolution will be #39-15
Trustee Pettit moved to pay the following bills: Warrant # 74890 through Warrant # 75033
and EFT 110-2015 through 122-2015 for a total sum of $231,421.91.

Trustee Bowen moved to adopt Resolution # 39-15
Whereas the exhaust system on the Lake Township Road Department 1982 sign truck is in
need of replacement, so
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees authorize a sum not to exceed
$1,000.00 to Heavy Duty Muffler, 3094 State Route 795, Millbury, Ohio 43447 for a
replacement muffler for the 1982 sign truck.

Trustee Welling moved to adopt Resolution # 40-15
Whereas, Larry Wilhelm, 25604 Bradner Road had requested permission to tap into the
storm tile for a new septic system which the Board of Trustees approved by Resolution
#118-2014, and
Whereas, Larry Wilhelm is now requesting permission for a road bore to drain the approved
tile into the ditch on the west side of Bradner Road, so
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees grant Larry Wilhelm's request for
a road bore for the approved tiled drain into the ditch on the west side of Bradner Road.

Trustee Bowen moved to adopt Resolution #41-15
Whereas, Lakewood Church of the Brethren, 27009 Lemoyne Road, Millbury, Ohio is
requesting permission to tap into the storm tile on Lemoyne Road with an eight (8")inch tile
for the purpose of draining the parking area, so
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees grant permission to the
Lakewood Church of the Brethren, to tap into the storm tile on Lemoyne Road with an (8")
inch tile for the purpose of draining the parking area. A 24"x24" catch basin shall be
installed at the tap.

Trustee Pettit moved to adopt Resolution # 42-15
Whereas, the Lake Township Trustees, by Resolution # 02-08 appointed Lake Township
Police Chief, Mark Hummer-Administrative Assistant to the Trustees, and
Whereas, the Lake Township Trustees wish to renew the Administrative/Police Chief
position for Mark Hummer, so
Therefore, be it resolved that the Lake Township Trustees renew the Administrative/Police
Chief position for Mark Hummer for a period of five (5) years effective April 1, 2015 at the
current level of compensation, subject to a yearly review by the Board of Trustees.

Fire Department Issues:
Trustee Bowen moved to adopt Resolution # 43-15
Whereas, Lake Township probationary Fire Fighter David Weddle is scheduled to attend
Oregon Schools Basic EMT class which is a requirement for all new fire fighters, and
Whereas, Lake Township Fire Chief Bruce Moritz recommends the Trustees pay the cost
associated with the classes, so
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees pay the sum of $900.00 to
Oregon Schools to cover the cost for Basic EMT classes for probationary Fire Fighter David
Weddle.

Discussion Only:
Trustee Bowen asked the chiefs if we have bottled water available to the neighbors near the
oil spill. Chief Hummer/Chief Moritz will coordinate the delivery of the bottled water.
Trustee Bowen thanked the Parks Committee for the Easter Breakfast-there was good
attendance!
