Derby Cycling Group Committee Meeting 5th May 2015 - 7:30 @ The Brunswick Public House 1) Attendees Pete Greenfield (chair), Mark Hicklin (mins), Ian Dent, Martin Aldred, Stephen Crispin, Tony Roelich, Les Sims, Derek Gascoyne, David Clasby (DC), Daryl Coulborn 2) Apologies Ian Alexander 3) Actions from of previous meeting • April Minutes Approved. • It was noted that Ian Alexander is to resign from his post as DCG Chairman. Ian still intends to be involved with the DCG. A big thanks to Ian, who has done a tremendous job during his chairmanship of DCG over recent years. • An excellent newsletter was complied by ID. Thanks to the DCG team who packed and sent it to all members on 22nd April. 4) Actions from May Meeting • CTC affiliation for DCG to be purchased by ID for a cost of approx. £60. This gives many benefits including public liability insurance. • Meeting venue to remain at The Brunswick for the near future if possible. Any possible alternatives considered. • Social Network (Facebook/Twitter/Website) protocol & rules were discussed. ID/DC to update page with the following agreed basic guidelines: No bad/offensive language. Facebook posts to be relevant to the group. Facebook not to be used as buy/sell page. 5) AGM • The 2015 DCG AGM is planned for 7:30pm Tuesday 19th May at Friends Meeting House, St Helen’s St., Derby. • AGM agenda to be produced – ID/PG th DCG Minutes 5 May 2015 Page 1 • Guest speaker proposed as Matt Easter (Sustrans Regional Director) to be organised by DC. • Refreshments to be organised by PG. • Awards to be given to Derbyshire County Council & Derby City Council. LS & DC to organise and prepare presentation. Lucy Care to be contacted for award template. • The Selection of 10 committee members to be confirmed & proposed at AGM – PG 6) Newsletter • Daryl Coulborn has kindly volunteered to be newsletter editor. The frequency and format of the newsletter will develop over the year. All relevant articles are welcomed from any members throughout the year. 7) Events Diary • The Alice Wheeldon ride was organised for 3rd May 2015 by PG was unfortunately cancelled. It is unsure if it will be rescheduled this year. • DCG to attend the ‘Belper Goes Green’ Festival in 30th/31st May – ID to organise. Volunteers to help are required – contact ID. http://www.transitionbelper.org/belper%20goes%20green.html • DC informed everybody regarding 2015 being the 20th anniversary of Sustrans. Events in Derbyshire may be announced later in the year. http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-‐cycle-‐network/celebrating-‐20-‐years-‐network • It was noted that National Bike week is planned 13-‐21st June. http://bikeweek.org.uk/ 8) Campaigns and Strategy • TR has added an update on ‘Space for Cycling’ (S4C) in relation to local councillors to the DCG website and was also sent to the Daily Telegraph. • TR continues to be involved with local councillors regarding awareness of cycling issues. • It was noted that large-‐scale Flood Defences are planned in Derby, which will introduce significant disruptions/changes to the Derby Cycle Network, especially Route 6.
