Crime Reduction Unit
The Crime Reduction Unit is comprised of Investigators, Crime Prevention
Specialists, Narcotics K9 and Explosive Odor Detecting K9. They are actively responsive to criminal activity within The Woodlands. The Investigators are responsible for the immediate investigation of cases, seizure of stolen property, service of warrants, assisting patrol deputies with
calls to service and dignitary protection. The Crime Prevention Specialists have daily interaction with
the community and community businesses. They educate the public and businesses on crime reduction
practices, security and active shooter responses. They assist the Investigators with intelligence gathered
with their community interactions. The K9 units are deployed on an as needed basis and perform proactive patrol practices. The K9 Units interact with the community and perform demonstrations upon request while they actively work the numerous events that are held throughout The Woodlands.
This Unit, which began in December 2010, is unique in that it has the ability to immediately act
upon criminal activity within its area of responsibility. They can initiate an investigation and follow
through until its completion which generally results in a warrant arrest. The objective of this Unit and all
law enforcement is to work together to remove the criminal element from our community. This in turn
presents a safer community to live in.
