REMINDER: VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION LUNCEON, ‘IT’S FIESTA TIME’, Friday
May 1st, 12:00 noon in the library auditorium..
From the
pen of our
president
As we are now past Easter, we realize summer will
soon be here. In Florida, first the summer weather
arrives, and then the season itself shows up on the
calendar. But after a rather cool winter, some may
be more pleased with warmer days this year.
A change of season will bring summer programs to
the library for both children and adults. Keep
abreast of the many opportunities that await you,
via our newsletter, the monthly printed Library
Happenings, the Library website and Friends of the
Library website. You will now find the Friends
with their own Facebook page for the first time. As
you walk through the library lobby, you will notice
the television screens hanging over the area near
the checkout line at the circulation desk telling of
current library activities available to all.
No matter what your interests, you will find a
wealth of material available at your library, both in
materials to be checked out and on the computer
and internet databases.
If you are a member of the Friends, your membership dues and the money you donate is used for
these materials which are always benefitting someone. It is a wonderful thought to realize that a
small donation reaches so many lives as the purchased materials quietly circulate. We want each
of you to know how much you accomplish and how
much we appreciate your continued interest and

Books and Authors
Jimmy Buffett, one of America’s most
popular story tellers in song and best selling books, has more than thirty-two albums
and several books to his credit. Most of us
have heard his many famous songs. He
was born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, was
raised in Mobile, Alabama and is a third
generation sailor. Mr. Buffett has sailed
throughout the world, most often in the
Caribbean. He learned to fly in 1985 and
has a passion for seaplanes. He has authored many songs and his books titled:
Tales from Margaritaville, Where is Joe
Merchant, A Pirate Looks at Fifty and A
Salty Piece of Land, and for young readers, The Jolly Mon and Trouble Dolls, both
written with the collaboration of his daughter, Savannah Jane. Mr. Buffett is one of
only six writers to have held the #1 position
in categories of both fiction and non-fiction
on the New York Times bestseller list. He
and his wife, Jane, and their three children
live in Key West, Florida but spend summers on Long Island. Mr. Buffett is both
humorous and emotional in his writings and
enjoyed by many at concerts and in his
books.
