Several
shops
have
remarked to me that they
cannot get hold of any
second hand Beretta’s and
when they do, they sell
very quickly. This should
be encouraging news if
you are already a Beretta
owner or considering a purchase, your new gun
may not appreciate in value but it certainly retains
a good proportion of the capital investment.
Shotguns are much like hand made watches and cars in this
respect, some brands retain their value much better than others.
Brands achieve this by keeping supply just below the level of
demand or clever marketing but ultimately it is about build quality.
When you buy a used product you need to know that it is not
going to fall apart. This is where a Beretta scores above its
competitors, the investment they make in high quality steel,
expensive machinery (such as cold hammer forging machines) for
barrel making and pre-production testing eventually saves you
money. They may not be the cheapest to buy, but they eventually
cost you less.
We are celebrating the biggest ever Beretta World this year which
is not only a tribute to the team at Meon Springs but is also a good
sign for clay shooting in general. For our shoot to top 1,000 entries
is incredible but I hear many big shoots have also done well in
2012, certainly the Benelli Sp’Auto hit a new high too.
This issue of Insight is packed with new models for customers to
choose from and I hope we have something that will tempt you
over the coming season. Don’t forget we have another brochure
dedicated to rifle shooting that can be obtained from your local
Beretta dealer.

Bjorn Waktare, Chairman of GMK, was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement
Award at the prestigious IPC Media Shooting Industry Awards held in May.
This was the first ever and only award of its kind in the industry, presented by IPC Media
who are publishers of the key and best-selling shooting magazines, The Field, Sporting
Gun, Shooting Gazette and Shooting Times. Bjorn was taken by surprise, and on
receiving the award he made a highly entertaining off the cuff speech, reminiscing on his
many happy years working with friends in the industry and highlighting the 40 year
anniversary of GMK. Bjorn received a bottle of Champagne and a fine sculpture to mark
this achievement.

EVOLUTION
When the 686E gave way to the Silver Pigeon
1 Sporting there was no longer an out and out
competition gun in the Beretta range for under
£2,000. Well the good news is that it has
undergone a facelift and is back for 2012 in
the form of the 686 Evo.
STOCK/RECEIVER
The new gun has been specified in a higher
grade of wood to its predecessor, in fact
the same level as the Silver Pigeon 1 D/L.
The receiver remains unchanged and is
characterized by the exclusive dual colour
finish. Together with the modern ellipsis
graphic motif, the contrast between the
glossy, matte and gold parts ensures an
extraordinary beauty. Beretta’s electro less
nickel finish provides added protection
against the elements.
BARRELS / CHOKES
All 686 Evos feature Beretta Steelium Overunder barrels. These are internally chrome
lined and have a deep blued finish with
‘686E Evo’ etched on the side of the rib at
the muzzle end. The barrels are Optibored
for improved performance, with extended
Optichokes. The Evo is available with either
28”, 30” or 32” barrels.
DETAILS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Exceptional durability is ensured by,
self-adjusting, dual conical locking lugs
and replaceable hinge pins. The perfect
competition shotgun package at a great price.
The Beretta 686E Evo has a very
competitive SRP of £1,950 – delivery
from July 2012.
A300 Outlander
The key to superior performance in a
semi-automatic shotgun is simplicity!
Made in Italy, in keeping with the Beretta
tradition, the new A300 Outlander is a
soft-shooting gas-operated semi-auto.
The rugged A300 workhorse is elegant, yet
efficient, sleek yet strong, with slim graceful
lines which leave an indelible impression at first
sight. With an SRP of only £930 it also offers
fantastic value for money.
The A300 Outlander has been manufactured
with a reduced number of components (five
main assembly groups), which can be stripped
for easy disassembly and cleaning. The new
auto combines the reliable Beretta bolt with

falling block (locked breech). The gun has
an advanced gas valve with a self-cleaning
cylinder and piston. In the shooting cycle
excess pressure, caused by the most powerful
cartridges, can be decreased automatically.
The new A300 Outlander is available in 12ga
multi choke field version (3” chamber) with
either 26”, 28” or 30” barrels.
With a SRP of £950 for the wood version
or black synthetic, this is a great semi
auto at an exceptional price. A real
compliment to the hugely successful
A400 series which starts at £1,420.

SV10 1 Prevail Pro
A limited number of special edition SV10s will be
available this summer. The Prevail Pro will feature a
modern engraving that has a real competition look
about it, as opposed to the traditional scroll pattern
currently available.
The walnut stock is fitted with the excellent
Beretta micro-core recoil pad for increased
shooting comfort. To complete this excellent
package the gun is equipped with optima

A400 Xtreme
When Beretta launched the new A400 it was hailed
as the most advanced semi-automatic shotgun
ever made. A bold claim indeed. Well with the
launch of the new A400 Xtreme it is hard to argue
that they certainly have a strong case.
Incorporating all the innovative features of the A400
including Blink to provide ultra fast cycling and Aqua
which provides corrosion resistance to internal and
external parts. The A400s 3½” chamber can can handle
loads from 24g to 64g without the need for adjustment,
it also throws excellent patterns thanks to the Stellium
barrels with Optima bore/Optima choke.
The new innovation in the Xtreme is the development
of the recoil system. The introduction of two separate
recoil dampeners within the stock makes this extremely
smooth and soft to shoot. For the first time, in a shotgun
stock, the compression point is behind the pistol grip
rather than at the heel of the gun (and incorporated
into the recoil pad). This has the effect of keeping the
cheek piece much more stable and speeding second
shot recovery.
The Xtreme is available in black, Camo Max 4 with

New Specifications
SP1 Deluxe goes multi-choke
From the middle of the year the field version of the Silver Pigeon 1 Deluxe will be available in
30” multi-choke, as well as the existing fixed choke versions. The new multi-choke will be in
both 12g and 20g varieties and are likely to cost an extra £70 over the fixed choke models.
Alternatively a 30” sporting competition model is already available with multichokes.
Silver Pigeon .410 30”
Such is the interest in small gauges at the moment that Beretta have launched
a 30” .410 m/c for the autumn of 2012 priced at £1,700. The longer barrels help
to steady the swing on those longer birds whilst adding relatively little weight.
The Silver Pigeon 1 .410 was launched in 2011 in 28” barrel length and is only
available with multichokes. We will only have a limited production run in 2012
of the 30” model and demand is expected to be strong.
30/32” Combo Game Guns
For game shooters wishing to reach that little bit higher, for those
stratospheric pheasants, there will be Beretta game guns available
in two barrel sets of 30” and 32” in both 12g and 20g. Arriving at the
peak of the game season these guns are likely to be much sought
after. Please speak to your dealer about the options available.

Richard Faulds Wins English Open
Skeet Championship
Sponsored Beretta shooter, Richard
Faulds MBE, clinched a stunning
victory at the English Open Skeet
Championship, held on the 13th May
at Dartford Clay Shooting Club.
Four shooters were tied with a score of 100
after four rounds, and following a further 25
targets the pressure remained without any
of the shooters dropping a shot. Faulds had
entered the competition as a late entry and
shone through with a superb performance
to take high gun following a sudden death
shoot off with each competitor shooting pairs
from Peg 4 until each dropped a shot.

Cheryl Hall Shoots 100 Straight at English Sporting!

Cheryl Hall shot 100 straight in
English Sporting with her DT10
on 27th December at Southdown
Gun Club. Not only is Southdown
notorious for presenting some
challenging targets, Cheryl is also
the first lady ever to achieve such
an amazing result.
According to the CPSA, this was only
the third registered 100/100 in a Sporting
event in 2011. There are no records of
such a score in a registered shoot in
2010 with only one achieved in 2009.

Cheryl Hall won the Gold Medal
at the FITASC - 18th European
Championship of Compak Sporting
held on 24th to 27th May 2012
at the Sarlospuszta Shooting
Complex (Hungary).
Cheryl clinched her victory after a tense
shoot off with Beatriz Laparra of Spain,
they both shot 172 ex 200.
This is another trophy to add to
Cheryl’s ever growing collection.

The 2012 Dougal Memorial and English
Open DTL, incorporating the new
Beretta ‘DT11 Challenge’, was a great
success thanks to the commitment of
the entire team at Bywell headed up by
Alan, Richard and John Henry - and the
hardworking CPSA staff in attendance
over the three days. The unseasonably
cold weather and monsoon conditions
on Friday and Saturday meant that

to be virtually impossible. However, we
were delighted to see Phil Morgan take
the English Open title on the Sunday,
Phil has been a loyal Beretta user for

and organisation cannot be faulted.

Q. How are the preparations going for
London 2012, are you happy with your form?

A. Preparations are going well, but we have
had to escape the wind and rain of the UK
to train in Italy, as we can’t get any consistent
shooting in such wet and windy conditions
hopefully by August 2nd the weather will
have improved!
A. I have had a busy start to the year with 5
international events already. I would like my
form to have been better so far this year but I
am confident that my intensive training will put
me in the best position to shoot well at
the Olympics.
A. Preparations for London are going well; I’m
currently training very hard and shooting up to
1500 shells a week. Still a lot of hard work to
do before the Olympics but hopefully it will all
come together.
Q. What difference will having the event in
your home country make, is there any real
advantage for British shooters?
A. There is zero home advantage as we can’t
get access to the range as its in the middle of
Woolwich Barracks, roads need to be closed
for us to use the range so it’s a logistical
nightmare to shoot there.
Q. It will make an interesting change to enter
this event with another British shooter
ranked more highly, how has the emergence
of Peter Wilson effected the competition?
A. With Peter Wilson competing this year, it has
been great to train with him, as if you train with
the best you become the best.
Q. This will be your 5th olympics, how
has the event changed over the years.
In Atlanta in 1996 double trap was still a
relatively new event wasn’t it?
A. Double trap has had a few changes since
I first shot it in 1994, the introduction of the
delay and a couple of other small changes,
but the big changes come next year with
random pairs!
Q. You have recently adopted one of those
monster ribs that are now common place
in double trap, what is the idea behind them?
A. The idea of the high rib is to increase
visibility around the end of the barrel and under
the barrel as the first shot is an ambush shot
and with a flat rib it creates a blind spot under
the barrel where the bird comes from.
Q. We asked you this four years ago,
but do you think this will be your last
Olympics? Or will it just be a break from it
for a year or two before building up again.
Q. What difference will having the event
in your home country make, is there any
real advantage for British shooters?
A. I don’t really see an advantage, the only
possible benefits are familiarity with the climate
and being in the same time zone. However
one huge benefit will be having my friends and
family in the crowd cheering us all on!
Q. How many Olympics have you been to?
This will be my second.
Q. What did you make of the facility at
Woolwich Barracks, not like your average
skeet range is it?
A. I really liked the facility, the ranges are great
and the grandstands for the spectators will be
excellent.
Q. Do you feel that the experience of the
shoot off in India where you recently won
the Commonwealth Gold will be useful in
London?
Q. What difference will having the event in
your home country make, is there any real
advantage for British shooters?
A. I’ve have never really thought the Olympics in
London would be a home advantage, if anything
it might add more pressure to those who are on
very good form going into the games.
Q. Where will you be staying during the
event? Will you be in the Olympic village
with the athletes from the other events?
A. During the games I’m planning to be based
in the Olympic village with the rest of Team GB.
As this is my first games I’m keen to experience
the village atmosphere.
Q. As this is your first Olympics will you be
treating it any differently from other major
competitions?
A. No I will be treating it exactly the same
as I would any other major event. I’ll stick to
my training and my routine and try not be
overwhelmed by the occasion.
A. I had to beat one of the best skeet shots in
the world to win the Commonwealth Gold, a
similar performance will be required to achieve
Olympic success and so its great to know that
I have proved, already more than once, that I
have the ability.
Q. Will you be attending the opening
ceremony?
Q. What is it about Berettas that make
them such a popular choice for skeet
in particular?
Q. What model of Beretta do you use and
has it been modified in any particular way?
A. I believe the balance and reliability of the
guns are two of the key factors in their success.
Q. What plans do you have after this year’s
Olympics, maybe one more attempt?
A. Yes I am definitely going to the opening
ceremony, it will be a spectacle and I couldn’t
forgive myself if I missed it at my first games.
A. I use a Beretta DT10 with Briley extended
chokes and a custom stock.
Q. What next after the Olympics?
A. I really don’t know at this time. I’m not
looking any further ahead than the Olympics.
A. After the Olympics my thoughts will turn
to defending my Commonwealth Games title
which will be in Glasgow 2014.
A. As far as Double Trap retirement goes...
time will tell!

CHAMPIONSHIPS 2012
Saturday 2oth May 2012 West midlands Shooting school
There was a new home and record
entry for the fourth Benelli Sp’Auto
Championships held on Sunday 20th
May. The challenging course at the
stunning West Midlands Shooting Ground
in Hodnet, nr. Telford was enjoyed by the
296 shooters who took part.
Karl Waktare, GMK’s Managing Director,
commented that:
“West Midland Shooting Ground proved to be
a very popular new venue to host the 2012
Benelli SP’AUTO. The course set by Tom Jones
– ground owner, was very challenging and
received much praise during the shoot. This
event continues to grow and it was great
to see so many shooters enjoying themselves
with autos.”
Martin Myers emerged as the winner for the
second year running, with a fantastic score
of 117/120 and was awarded the first place
prize of a Benelli Vinci, 500 Hull Pro One
Cartridges and the High Gun trophy. Brett Hand
on 116/120 and Stuart Clarke 112/120, took
second and third place respectively.
All competitors enjoyed ideal conditions as
they undertook the challenging and innovative
120 bird course. As the UK’s only exclusive
semi-automatic clay shoot, the SP’AUTO allows
full use of the auto’s three shot facility and there
were a mixture of two and three target stands
across the total fourteen stands.

Paul Simpson emerged from the rain
and mud at Meon Springs to claim
his second Beretta World Sporting
Championship. He won his place
in the final six shoot off by scoring
an impressive 116/120 on Sunday
afternoon. Sunday morning had seen
an even more impressive 117 from
Richard Faulds, who was the other
Sunday qualifier.
Arguably the most remarkable scores were
in the relentless rain on Saturday where
Carl Bloxham and John Lee shot 110/120
and 113/120 respectively. The final six were
made up by Rick Wyatt (116/120) and
Roger Deacon (113/120) who qualified from
Friday’s intermittent showers.
The new lakeside setting for the shoot off
provided excellent viewing positions for the
spectators and challenging targets for the
competitors. After 24 targets four shooters
tied on the same score but Carl Bloxham
and John Lee were eliminated. Another
12 targets and we were down to Richard
and Paul, both of whom wasted chances to
win. Eventually, after another selection
of targets we had ourselves a champion in
the shape of Paul Simpson.
The record entry of over 1,000 shooters,
the biggest in the history of the event, spoke
volumes about the excellent reputation of
this shoot. Feedback from the competitors
was excellent and full credit must go to Pete
Corney and Bob Clarke for their outstanding
course design. The Laporte clays and
traps also coped admirably with the tough
conditions. Thanks also to the other
sponsors Breitling, Sporting Shooter, Eley,

Semi-Automatics
Beretta actually make many more semi-automatic shotguns than they do over and unders. This is
because much of continental Europe and North America have a preference for this type of shotgun.
They have a long history in the manufacture of semi-automatics and have been at the forefront of

Beretta Premium grade guns are made separately from the rest of the range in a special facility
within the factory. The art of the Master engravers adorn the action and any other visible metal
component. Skilled gun makers build the action and carefully fit the barrels to ensure they open
and close like the movement of a fine clock. Premium walnut is carefully selected, hand checkered
and protected with the finest oils to achieve a finish worthy of the grade.
687 EELL Classic SRP from £6,340
Refined pleasures are the rewards of life. One of these rewards is hunting with a prestigious premium grade
Beretta shotgun like the incomparable 687 EELL Classic. The full side plates boast a fine engraving with birds
and are enhanced by intricately detailed ornamental motifs which extend to the trigger guard and forend iron.
Jubilee Series
The Jubilee series embodies almost 500 years of tradition. The perfect balance, elegant lines and rich

The SO6 EELL is embellished with the finest hand engraving, signed by the artist. Standard engraving options
include a scroll engraving, a gamescene engraving or a gold inlaid gamescene engraving. As an optional extra,
the SO6 EELL can be ordered with even more intricate engraving styles. The stock and forend on the SO6
EELL are made of the finest walnut briar, selected for its colour tones and strength. The stock to receiver fit is
completed with the utmost care. The customer can specify the final dimensions and delivery is approximately
18 months on guns which are made to special order.

SO10 Series
Seventy years after the first modern Beretta over and under (the S1 was launched in 1933), a new true
sidelock shotgun was born. The SO10 over and under is the deserving successor of the famous Beretta
SO series hunting and competition shotguns. They have earned their reputation, on the Olympic podium
and on the most exclusive hunts in the world, from Europe to America to Africa, for being the most
functional, elegant and exclusive over and unders in the world.
The SO10 Series has no pins or screws on the surface of the receiver, thus providing a blank canvas for the
master engraver. The locking system of the Beretta SO10 over and under features a rear longitudinal bolt
operating in a central position. This not only makes the opening of the barrels smooth and noiseless, but it also
minimises stress when opening. Needless to say, the stock and forend on SO10 and SO10EELL are made
from high quality walnut, which has been selected for its grain quality, colour and strength.

There is a choice of five, grade two, standard engravings on the SO10.
SO10EELL SRP from £66,450
There is the choice of six, grade three, standard engravings on the SO10 EELL. There is also a choice of four
custom engravings, which are grade four and upwards, at an additional cost. A variety of sophisticated scenes
and styles can be created to suit personal tastes and requirements, from floral motifs, to traditional game
scenes, exotic subjects, fine English scrolls, mythological scenes and gold-inlaid animals. A straight hand

The Raffaello Elegant model is distinguished by its photo-engraving and the carefully selected wood which
brings out the grain. The rich decoration follows the line of the receiver to emphasise its form and curves,
with a skilful balance of black and white tones.
Raffaello De Luxe SRP £1,680
Benelli’s Raffaello De Luxe is dedicated to those who love attention to detail. From the luminosity of the
engraving to the richly grained wood, which is finely checkered, the Raffaello De Luxe is luxurious in every way.
In addition, the shotgun is also lightweight and extremely strong. This is thanks to the receiver, which is made
from special Ergal high-strength aluminium alloy with a steel cover.
Raffaello Crio Comfort SRP £1,775
The Raffaello Crio is the result of advanced technological research, the use of special alloys and carbon fibre
mean it is the best representation of the innovative spirit of Benelli. The design of the receiver and the slim line

When one shot makes the difference, so does the gun and the Raffaello SuperSport gives you that winning
edge. The SuperSport’s ComforTech® recoil-dampening system gives you up to 69% faster recovery and up to
48% less felt recoil. The SuperSport has a synthetic stock and forend with a stylish carbon-fibre effect finish.
Raffaello Cordoba SRP £1,965
The Benelli Cordoba is a lightning-fast 12 gauge or 20 gauge shotgun. Inspired by the high volume of dove
shooting found around Cordoba, Argentina, the designers at Benelli engineered this hunting gun with all the
advanced features of a serious sporting clays model. Incorporated into the Cordoba is the 10-mm tapered
sporting rib favoured by competition shooters and porting to keep muzzle flip to a minimum.
Raffaello Executive from SRP £6,155
The unique receiver on Benelli’s Executive semi-automatic is made from steel. This is so that the owner can
have the gun customised with a personal engraving of their choice. The model’s simple styling emphasises
the clarity of the lines and the elegant combination of the satin finished receiver and the dark polished cover.
Raffaello Crio 28 SRP £1,900
The Raffaello Crio 28 incorporates Benelli’s inertia driven operating system into an elegant and lightweight
28 gauge semi-automatic shotgun. Featuring cryogenically treated barrels and chokes for exceptional
performance and an AirCell recoil pad for maximum comfort and higher shock absorption. The walnut stock
and forend have been treated to enhance the wood’s appearance and ensure high resistance to scratches
and humidity.

The ComforTech System: Constructed in technopolymer, the stock has been designed to absorb and contain the
shock of recoil before it reaches the shooter’s shoulder, and also to reduce muzzle-flip. The ‘Technogel’ recoil pad
is anatomically shaped to maximise the contact area of the shooter’s shoulder, further diminishing recoil peak.
Simultaneously, the ‘Technogel’ comb eases the impact on the face and considerably reduces the vibrations
transmitted to the head. Finally, the stock and forend are finished with the new concept ‘Air Touch’ checkering for
natural aeration of the hand to ensure a firm grip in all conditions.

Nova Pump SRP from £615
The Nova model receiver and stock are comprised from a single element of Technopolymer which is extremely
resistant to high and low temperatures. The magazine cap, with its ergonomic design to improve the grip
when tightening, transforms into the only tool required to dismantle the gun, while the magazine stop button,
under the forend, allows the cartridge to be removed from the chamber while leaving the cartridges in the
magazine in place. Available in 4+1 capacity. A Camo Timber version is also available.
SuperNova Pump SRP from £670
Designed and created to meet the most demanding shooters’ requests for versatility and resistance,
the SuperNova models are ultra reliable, multi-purpose shotguns that are safe and durable. Featuring
Benelli’s highly innovative, precise pump action, the SuperNova models have a two piece receiver and stock.
The SuperNova has a modular design, with a small number of parts to make them simple to disassemble
and quick and easy to maintain. Available in 2+1 or 4+1 capacity. A Camo Timber and MAX4 version are
also available.
Premium Plus Wood, Black Synthetic and Camo SRP from £800
Unlike the rest of the Benelli range the Premium Plus model is manufactured in Spain by BBI
(Beretta Benelli Iberica). The proven design closely follows that of the original Benelli SL80 series, featuring
an aluminium alloy receiver and ‘falling block’ bolt lock-up. The one-piece barrel/shroud assembly is ideal for
quick field stripping, inspection and ease of maintenance. 28” M/C barrels are manufactured by Beretta in Italy
with 3” chambers and Superior Steel-Shot proof. This is a simple, light, yet robust and ultra reliable hunting
gun - at a very competitive price.

Lanber Field Deluxe SRP £930
The Lanber Field Deluxe embodies everything you require from a truly effective, versatile and practical all
rounder. The gun features a 3" chamber proofed to 1370 bar and is fitted with 28" or 30", multichoke, chrome
lined barrels. The stock and Schnabel forend are inscribed with deep laser-cut chequering for improved grip
and are matte oil finished. The reshaped action body has a contemporary design and is forged from
high-strength alloy steel with an attractive gamescene engraving. At 3.4kg, it is lighter than its sporting
counterpart and features a narrow, ventilated top rib. A single selective trigger and automatic safety
complete the impressive package.
Lanber Sporting Deluxe SRP £965
The Sporting Deluxe features 3" chambered, chrome-lined, 28" or 30" barrels with a wide rib and flush fitting
multichokes as standard. The scroll engraved action is highly polished, by means of Lanber’s pulse-plasmanitriding technology, to give a superlative level of strength and protection to the steel. High quality woodwork
and innovative, deep laser-cut checkering on the stock and forend provide increased grip, whilst stylishly
enhancing the gun. With improved balance and handling to boot, the Sporting Deluxe is an impressive package.
Lanber 20ga Field SRP £930
After 45 years, of producing outstandingly reliable and affordable shotguns, Lanber have launched their first
true 20ga gun featuring a scaled-down receiver to match the gauge of the barrels. The Lanber 20ga Field has a
strong aluminium alloy receiver to help reduce weight and improve the overall balance, it will be offered in 28" and
30" M/C specification. The matt silver receiver is complemented by traditional style scroll engraving whilst the
