No Ordinary Rib Scarf Pattern Designed by Urszula Szwabowicz Basic rib scarves are surely warm and good looking, but they are quite boring to knit… No Ordinary Rib pattern is a modified version of 1x1 rib which provides a bit more entertainment while knitting and still remains suitable for beginners. Note: Wrong side of the scarf looks much like the traditional 1x1 rib. The pattern has a neat slip stitches edge. Finished size: 190 x 17 cm Gauge: 19 sts x 21 rows = 10 cm (4 inches) in No Ordinary Rib pattern Materials: approx. 2 skeins of Polish yarn Kocurek (100 g = 520 m, fingering weight, taken two strands at a time) 6 mm (US size 10) knitting needles tapestry needle (to weave in loose ends) Techniques used: cable cast on (can be replaced by any other cast on method), knit stitches, purl stitches, slip stitches No Ordinary Rib Scarf instructions: Cast on 33 sts. Rows 1, 3: sl1 knitwise, p1, *k1, p3*, repeat to the last 3 sts, k1, p1, sl1 Row 2 and all even rows: p1, knit the knit stitches, purl the purl stitches, purl the last st Rows 5, 7, 13, 15: sl 1, *p1, k1*, repeat to the last 2 sts, p1, sl1 Rows 9, 11: sl1, *k1, p3*, repeat to the last st, sl1 Row 16: p1, knit the knit stitches, purl the purl stitches, purl the last st Repeat 16 rows of the pattern until desired length.
