Based on new information received regarding the Pope’s proposed schedule, we have been fortunate to negotiate a
less expensive, shorter pilgrimage for the Papal visit weekend. We believe this will be even more attractive to
Pittsburghers wanting to see the Holy Father in Philadelphia. Our Pilgrimage will now leave the Pittsburgh area on
Friday, September 25 and return on Monday, September 28, 2015.
The DIOCESE OF PITTSBURGH has secured round-trip motor coaches and beautiful, convenient hotel rooms for a
Pilgrimage to Philadelphia for the visit of Pope Francis. Each bus will be served by a priest or deacon and a lay
leader to meet the spiritual needs of pilgrims, and to facilitate the overall experience of the World Meeting of
Families and the visit of Pope Francis.
FRIDAY, September 25, 2015: Departure at approximately 12:00 noon from Pittsburgh and journey to our hotel about 50 minutes
outside of Philadelphia. We will enjoy a welcome dinner and spiritually prepare for the Pope’s arrival.
SATURDAY, September 26, 2015: We will depart our hotel early in the morning with an included boxed breakfast. Free coffee will
be available in the lobby of our hotel. Our motor coaches will be staffed by local, knowledgeable Philadelphia drivers who will take
us into Philadelphia as traffic will allow, to experience the Festival of Families and other events offered by the World Meeting of
Families and Philadelphia organizers, and to celebrate mass with our Bishop Zubik. Our coaches will return us to the hotel in the
evening.
SUNDAY, September 27, 2015: Our departure time will be determined by the local traffic conditions and expected road closures
and events. A boxed breakfast will be provided and free coffee will be in the lobby. Our drivers will again be local, knowledgeable
drivers who have met with the City of Philadelphia departments planning the events to ascertain the best points of access and most
direct routes in for the Papal Mass and proposed events.
Our Pittsburgh Pilgrims will have an exclusive, safe, secure location in downtown Philadelphia on Saturday and Sunday for
our communication hub, gathering space, and as a refuge for prayer and relaxation. Details will be provided upon
departure from Pittsburgh.
MONDAY, Sept 28, 2015 - Journey Home: On Monday morning, we will enjoy a hot buffet breakfast and journey back to Pittsburgh
as traffic conditions will allow, expecting to arrive in Pittsburgh in the late afternoon / early evening.
The program is non-refundable, if for any reason Pope Francis is not present in Philadelphia on Sept 26-27, 2015, we will
still travel to Philadelphia and participate in the activities that will be offered with the World Meeting of Families over the
weekend. We will also organize spiritual activities, possibly walking tours and celebrate Mass together.

 Obviously, we cannot predict the conditions especially when Pope Francis is present in Philadelphia. We
will do our utmost to facilitate your enjoyment of your Pilgrimage, however, many things will be controlled
by the City of Philadelphia for safety reasons, etc. We are bound by their regulations. Experience with
similar Papal events in Rome (the Canonizations of the Popes) has taught us that individuals have many
different experiences at these type of events. Everyone feels blessed by the Pope’s presence whether they
catch a glimpse of the Holy Father close up, or from afar. We will be where we are meant to be and will
feel blessed just to be in Philadelphia for the Papal visit.
